Taylor Pierce's eyes kept glancing up towards the door and the glass windows that bordered it. Today was poised to be a busy day for the academy, even though many of the demigods and mortals here didn't know it. As a cabin leader, Taylor was privy to some of the more interesting gossip at the academy that passed through the Administrative offices which made his shifts on desk duty not as dull. Normally, it was just chatter he overheard about Betsy Butterfingers blowing up another beaker in the science lab or Moby Moodyalot giving the powers coach some attitude and getting detention over it; but today... today was different. The office was completely abuzz with the news that Chiron had found two older demigods and was sending them to the academy later today. Finding new demigods wasn't an everyday thing, but the C man himself bringing two of them in and they survived on their own past twelve? That was huge news and everyone who had heard the rumor was convinced that these kids had to be major. People were swearing up and down that Chiron had found some Big Three kids.
As he saw some older students pass by the office, Taylor wasn't sure if he was convinced. Lately, more blessed mortals were showing up and they tended to be older than most demigods. Perhaps this may be the case? But then again, why would Chiron himself be bringing them to the academy? He leaned back in his chair as he pondered this and mused, no pun intended, over these questions. Either way, he was going to be one of the first to find out and Taylor was curious to see the sources of these rumors for himself.
It was all Chiron's idea after the first few demigods began to appear, that everyone came to the academy first in order to make sure that they were going to the proper camp. The Romans were kind of easy to deal with as many of them had to pass Lupa's training first, but still every now and then a demigod or two slipped through the cracks and a son of Ares ended up being a son of Mars. That was the amazing thing about the portals at the academy, they wouldn't let anyone through unless they were going to the right place. Greeks went to Camp Half-Blood and Romans went to Camp Jupiter. For everyone else, the system was impenetrable, but ever since the Mortals have been showing up, things have been a little wonky. They could pass through either portal with little trouble, but none of them could pass through the camp's individual barriers meant to keep the local mortals out. They didn't have the needed ichor like demigods had.
They made everything crazy, but either way it was Chiron's idea to have a representative from both camps present when a new demigod or blessed mortal appeared, just to explain the whole set up of the camps and the academy in a clear manner. Taylor liked to think of it as being a glorified tour guide and since he was a cabin leader on desk duty for the afternoon, he was the lucky soul to represent the Greek side of things. His constant glances towards the door was his way of keeping an eye out for whoever was going to show off the Roman camp. It had to be a Praetor or a centurion, as only the camp leaders could be trusted with running this little parentage test, but Taylor had no idea which one it was going to be. They had to be out of class, that's for sure, but as the afternoon crawled on, he figured that a few of them fit that bill.
So his eyes kept glancing from the door to the security cameras nearby, showing the outside of the school, where the new demigods or blessed mortals would be arriving any minute. He doubted that they would get here before the CJ representative, but if they didn't hurry up and get to the office, whoever they were, well then... there might be a chance of them actually doing just that.
