It was only a matter of time before Atalanta would seek out her own weapon of celestial bronze. In her opinion it took her long enough as is. After spending a month without being able to kill or otherwise incapacitate her pursuers, she would've been a fool not to get herself at least a knife of that godsent metal for the next time she got out of Camp. As much as she didn't like it, she would have to go back to school eventually.
However between her recovery, Royce showing her around Camp and helping her get used to the whole concept-which she obviously wasn't fully yet, but sh tried not to let it show too much- and Chiron making sure she was brought up to speed with the rest of the demigods in terms of training, she had little time to sit down and think of a weapon she would wish to have with her at all times. At first she had tried the weapons available in the armory, but after a while she always found miniscule faults or inconviniences they would pose at school, first of all they would stick out from her bag or she wouldn't be able to easily carry them around. She had yet to be able to use the mist to disguise her weapon or make mortals forget they saw her carrying around a sword or spear. So there was only one last option, to forge something new.
But she knew next to nothing about forging, much less creating the weapon she needed. She had some ideas on what to make, but she didn't have the skills to do it. Royce had suggested she tried to enlist the help of a Hephastus kid and what better way to do so than come straight to the forges where the kids hang out most of the time. As soon as she entered, the heat from the forges hit her hard. She could feel her body threatening to sweat buckets at any moment now and she wondered how they could stand the heat all day long. Then again they were talking about the kids of the God of forges, so it made sense... ish. She was still too new at this whole demigod thing.
Grabbing her hair up in a ponytail, she wondered why she had thought it a good idea to wear cargo pants and combat boots today. Oh yeah! It was her usual attire, so it had really been just an act of habbit. She felt really greatful for the orange tank top with the Camp's Logo printed on the chest for once. At first orange hadn't really sit well with her. It was too easy to attract attention to yourself and attention was the last thing a demigod needed. More or less. She looked around, taking a couple of steps in from the entrance. She didn't know anyone from Hephastus' Cabin so she really was looking for anyone that might've been occupying the forge today. Elise had been hard at work in the forges today, primarily on management duty as there wasn't really anything for her to forge today, instead she was making sure her siblings didn't set anything on fire that wasn't supposed to be. Unlike her siblings wearing shorts in the hot environment, the redhead wore her usual outfit of jeans, combat boots and a camp t-shirt seeing as one of her talents was being able to conjure fire, being fireproof made heat a minor nuisance at best. The day had gone relatively well though, it was a weekend, so she didn't have to teach anyone at the academy, and she didn't have any huge projects to work on. Quill helped her younger siblings with anything they were having difficulty with, guiding them with adjustments rather than taking over for them. Most of them knew what they were doing, due to their parentage, but improvements could always be made, no matter what they were working on. This kept her occupied for the majority of the time, but as the day dragged on, the numbers in the forges dwindled. The teen debated taking a nap, but that was never a wise idea at the forge, not to mention it'd be incredibly irresponsible of her to leave the facility unsupervised. The demigod quickly grew bored and began to tinker with the various electronics laying around the forge, her technomancy coming in handy. She worked primarily on a project she had been working on for a while, a sort of gadget that would allow campers to Iris message without the use of water. It was similar to FaceTime that Mortals used, but only worked on a device that only demigods could use, in order to avoid attracting monsters. It was almost finished, but would have to wait seeing as someone entered the forge. Elise raised a brow at the demigod that entered the forges, whoever it was definitely wasn't a sibling of hers, judging by how they wandered rather than immediately set off for their station. No, this was likely someone looking to get something from the children of Hephaestus, though what they wanted was yet to be determined. The redhead stepped out from her station, and placed her safety goggles on top of her head as she approached the mystery person. " Looking for something?" she asked with a raised brow, knowing that the camper had to have come here for a reason, most demigods didn't venture into the hot space without one. Atalanta Nikolaou

Atalanta turned to face the redhead that approached her, asking for her reason for being in the forges. The daughter of Ares raised an eyebrow in slight bewilderment. Safety goggles and jeans with combat boots? In the forges with all this heat? The redhead didn't even seemed to be in any discomfort from the furnace and Atalanta could safely admit to herself that if she had to spend a day like that, she would certainly suffocate. But the other demigod didn't need to know that.
"I'm looking for someone to talk weapon development with. I need to get my own but I can't forge it. It would explode to my face before it would work." She replied and took a quick at the work station from which the redhead had emerged from. It had been filled with various circuits and mechanical parts that Atalanta knew she wouldn't be able to make sense of even if it was explained to her. The redhead was definitely a crafter and most crafters in Camp Half-blood were children of Hephaestus, so Atalanta figured it was safe to assume this girl before her was a Hephaestus kid. "Royce suggested I get help from any Hephastus kid willing to help me out." She added after a bit of thought. It was the truth and there was no shame in asking for help if it meant she would get a weapon she felt completely in sync with.

Elise flashed the other demigod a wicked grin, " Well you've come to the right place, the forge is the only place in camp where you can get a good weapon." she replied, " There is the option of digging through the shed of old stuff, but anything there won't really be yours." she added. The redhead listened as the other girl explained that Royce had sent her to find a Hephaestus kid, of course Royce would know to send anyone looking for something quality to the forges, " You're in luck, she replied, her grin morphing into a smirk, " I happen to be a Hephaestus kid, and I'm willing to bet you're the Ares kid Royce told me about." the teen added. The other demigod fit the profile of the other Ares kids wandering around camp, and the feeling of war emanated from this demigod. " Elise Quill, Hephaestus Cabin Leader" she introduced herself, " I'd shake your hand, but mine are covered in grease, which most people don't like getting on them." she shrugged, " What kind of weapon were you thinking?" she inquired, " I know Ares kids can use pretty much anything to fight, Hades, I'm sure you could use a shovel and kill someone, but I'm sure you have a preference." she finished with a smile, it had been a while since she had something good to forge, and the excitement was getting to her, ask any Hephaestus kid and they'll tell you that they always feel better when they're working on something. Atalanta raised an inquisitive eyebrow as the redhead showed an immense interest in forging a weapon, but she supposed when you were constantly fighting for your life or having a high chance of being selected by a god to do their dirty work then you really ought to know a weapon, any weapon, was your best friend. She couldn't agree more with how the old stuff in the shed were good only for so long. They were good starting weapons, but after a little practise you could tell you needed an upgrade. For the daughter of Ares, that time had come sooner than most campers.Perhaps it was due to her dad.
Then the redhead confirmed her suspicions. She was indeed a Hephaestus kid and she seemed very satisfied with the fact. Atalanta couldn't blame her. Being able to fix and make all sorts of things was pretty handy. And a lot better than being just a meathead who went about antagonizing everyone and relishing in bloodshed. Yeah, she had heard those rumours and comments about her father and half-siblings being tossed around in hushed tones. But let's not get sidetracked here. Stupid ADHD! The redhead knew her. Royce had spoken to her about Atalanta. "Uhh.... I guess?" She replied on the rather rhetorical question.
Then the second bit of info hit her. "Wicked!" She was fortunate enough to have the Cabin leader excited about her weapon forging. As far as she could tell, Cabin leaders were the most experienced demigods. Which meant they were probably the best out of their respective siblings. She chuckled and grinned as Elise commented on shovels and grease. Atalanta extended a hand to shake. "Nothing wrong with a little grease. Can't really work unless you get dirty right? I'm Atalanta Nikolaou." She said, introducing herself casually. This was true with martial arts as well as tinkering. Unless you were willing to get down to it, all sweaty and dusty, then you were never going to progress. Not really. "Shovels are not hard to use as weapons. Anyone can do it." She smirked. "But they are too big and flashy. Can't really carry a.... celestial bronze shovel? Is that the right metal?... to school. So I was thinking something along the lines of a spearhead?" She paused for a second. "It's small to carry around without people noticing and can be used as an improv knife if I don't have a spear shaft close by."
"A spear and shield would've been ideal, but I can't really take them out of Camp without mortals noticing." It still felt weird, having to call people mortals. This casual use of mythology themes was not something that came natural to her, unlike Elise. It would probably grow in her with time, but for now it was just weird and you could tell.
