It wasn’t often Royce went anywhere without her German Shepherd, Rio, and the academy was no exception. The demigod had finished up teaching her classes for the day, and decided to take a walk though the gardens with her dog. Rio was trained to be well behaved, so the girl need not to worry when she brought him along to classes. No one seemed to have a problem with it so long as no one approached Royce in an aggressive manner. She had put in many hours of training while he was just a puppy to get him to be the perfect battle partner for the demigod. One would say Rio was now trained as a police dog, except he was trained to seek out monsters instead of criminals. Although if he saw anything to be a threat to Royce, he would undoubtedly do everything in his power to protect her. Royce often walked Rio in the garden to let him safely explore more grounds than just Camp Half Blood. There were also garden hoses to be found in the area, and sometimes the daughter of Poseidon would play in the water with the dog. She would make water balls for the dog to catch in his mouth, his favorite part being that they burst upon contact. Rio’s inner puppy would be let free. As the two strolled through the flower beds, Rio’s ears stood up alert at the sound of someone else in the garden. Curious by the dogs reaction, Royce slowly peaked around the hedge to see what Rio could be on edge about. The german shepherd followed his owner and looked around the hedge as well. He let out a low growl, not liking what he saw on the other side. These things were in his territory, and he would not have it. Royce just watched, unsure of what to make of the situation. Max Dean

Max had managed to move to a new school and living arrangements just when it was time for his team to have their annual bath. Proper bath mind you, complete with shampoo and hair conditioner. What? Do you have any idea how hard it is to maintain the fur of his energetic fluffballs in good condition? Especially those of Toby and Sena's? Yeah, a ton of chasing the dogs around to sit still, hairblow drying and combing. It was just his luck to go and agitate his team of six sled dogs just when it was time for their bath, which they always either enjoyed making a fun game out of, or they plain denied going into the tub and Max had to chase and water hose them down. Dog boy knew that he ought to be thankful they had allowed him to bring his dogs to the Academy, but he had been without a plan for bathing schedule. And that bathing schedule should be kept in order. Thus Max had stripped down to his swimming trucks and flip flops and had marched through the hallways carrying several bottles of dog hair shampoo and a dog trainer's pouch. It had attracted several interesting and weird glances from students and staff alike, but Max had ignored them. He had seen a good spot for him to wash his furballs without them getting immediately muddy again. He had found a water hose at the gardens that was close to a large enough stone tilled patio while on his recent scouting of the grounds. That was the place he was currently occupying, trying to put his dogs in line using his dog whistle hanging from a black cord around his neck. Having them line up was easy enough, the dogs immediately responded to the call. But when they saw the water hose, things changed. Icefang and the Husky triplets were easy enough to properly drench. They had even attempted to playfully bite the water to submission but made no fuss over it in general. When it was Toby's time.... The goofy malamute decided it didn't want to go down without a fight. It bolted, avoiding the water ray coming his way and crouched down in a playful manner. Max rolled his eyes and sighed. He knew this was going to happen. "Toby sit!" Max commanded and blew his whistle in a short fashion. He had little hope the big pup of a malamute would listen to him however. He was too deep in play mood to return to being serious in such a short notice. The rest of the dogs began to feel restless and they whined, barked and wagged their tails in a various assortement of 'Really Toby?', 'Just get it over it ya goof!', 'Run Toby! Run like the wind!'. At least that was the reaction of the triplets boasting the names of the three brothers from Disney's movie Brother Bear. Icefang had been swishing her tail impatiently at the whole ordeal and sweet old Sena was just sitting there, waiting patiently for her turn to come. "Oh so you wanna do this the hard way then?" Max asked Toby as a mischievous smirk appeared on his face, making him look like an Imp as he handled the water hose as if it was a gun. Toby barked playfully in reply and bounded towards the bushes, Max hot in pursuit and spraying water everywhere. Quite literally. Some of it had managed to hit the large dog. And some had missed. Well, they had actually managed to hit someone, but that someone did not seem to appreciate it, nor were they the rightful recipients of it. A girl and her german shepherd had been straight up blasted with a considerable shot of hose water. "Whoops!" Was all that Max said as he still tried to get all of Toby's fur thoroughly wet. --- Royce Reynolds

Royce couldn’t blame Rio for his reaction to what seemed to be a boy washing his pack of six huskies. The demigod hadn’t seen this boy around Camp Half-Blood or the Academy before, so she assumed he was new. She reasoned that he was probably a gifted mortal due to the fact that she had not been to the academy in a few days and Rio hadn’t sniffed out what looked to be four Siberian Huskies and two Alaskan Malamutes. If Royce didn’t end up with a shepherd, she most definitely would have opted for a husky, but Rio didn’t have to know that. The two watched form their spot just around the bush as three of the huskies were doused in hose water by the boy. Next came the large male malamute, looking a bit bigger than Rio with all of his fluffy fur, and he was on the run. Royce raised a brow, watching as the boy chased his dog around the clearing with the hose, spraying water this way and that. Eventually, the they got closer to Royce and Rio, and the girl received a strong blast of water to the chest. “Ooof.” She grunted. Being a daughter of Poseidon, however, the girl remained dry. She couldn’t say the same for Rio, as his chest and face was dripping in water, causing his hackles to raise on his back, the low growl continuing. Rolling her eyes at the boy’s ‘whoops’, she raised a hand, manipulating the water being shot from the hose, gathered it in a large ball over the malamute, and dumped it on him, making his fur stick to his body. “There, problem solved.” Royce stepped out fully from the bush, crossing her arms and smirking at the boy. He looked considerably younger than she, but she gave him credit for at least attempting to tame six dogs and giving them baths all at once. She recounted that Rio was the same way, liking to make a game out of it all as well. Although her pup always knew she was the winner when it came to water. “Beautiful dogs you got there.” Royce observed. She was intrigued by the boy to say the least, and was drawn to other dogs as well. Rio on the other hand, was still being his protective self, a half step in front of Royce as if to protect her. Max and Toby had been stopped dead in their tracks. Hilariously enough they had the same stupified expression on their faces, trying to figure out what had just happened as somehow Toby found himself completely drenched and almost in half of his original, dry size. “There, problem solved.” The girl said as she came out from behind the bushes and Max blinked as he took in the drenched dog and the completely dry owner's appearances. He could've sworn that he had hit her with the hose as he tried to get Toby wet. He was looking at her stupidly for quite some time, enough for her to comment on how his dogs looked like. "Uh... thanks." He said almost automatically as he blinked out of his confusion. However the aggressive attitude of the German Shepherd did not escape Icefang. The white husky, though thoroughly drenched, was the first one to move infront of Max, fangs bared as she snapped in warning at the shepherd to stay away. That was the cue for the rest of the pack to perk up and sniff the air cautiously, looking at the new dog and getting up to form a loose protective circle around Max. "Woah! Icefang stay!" Max was quick to react. Sled dogs were known for their aggressiveness whenever the hierarchy was challenged and the new dog presented such. He caught Icefang by the collar and forced her to stay with her flank touching his leg. He knew that if Icefang, as the Alpha, was kept in check, then the others were not going to attack the older girl, or her dog. His dogs were tense. Even Toby had stopped being such a huge puppy and was keeping close, next to Kenai, the red husky that was sitting and watching the events unfold. Thankfully Icefang made no effort to break free of Max's control and so the boy looked back up at the other. "Yours is looking pretty good too, but uh... We might wanna calm them down before they tear at eachother." He commented with an awkward chuckle. ---- Royce Reynolds

Watching the pair, dog and owner, come to ab abrupt halt at her action, the girl let out a small chuckle. What especially tickled er was that both of them had the same curious look on their faces. From this, the girl could tell the pair had been together for some time, as their bond seemed string and their personalities similar. The boy must not have been a demigod, or she was sure he would have picked up on what just happened with her powers. Royce smiled at the boy’s ‘thanks’, and then ran her eyes over the pack to study them. She observed that they resembled a small dog sled team, as each had the build for the positions on the sled. She would never expect such a team to turn up here, but then again, nothing was to be expected when it came to the gods. Surprised at the aggression, Royce raised her eyebrow at what seemed to be the leader of the boys’ dogs step forward to defend its owner. She supposed the reaction was understandable, as Rio stood a bit taller than the other dogs and was approaching on their area. The shepherd continued to growl, but awaited his owners orders. He wasn’t anything if obedient to Royce. “Stand down, Rio.” His growling stopped, but he continued to keep his eyes locked with the white husky, watching to see if she made a move. Royce nodded at the boy’s compliment, and offered a smile. “I apologize if Rio startled you guys, it’s just what I trained him to do.” She ran a hand down Rio’s back to smooth the fur raised. “He’s not used to other dogs at the academy is all.” Royce never expected a mortal to show up to the academy with a dog, let alone a whole pack. She idly wondered how the dorm room situation worked with animals and such. Looking back up at the boy, the smile still on her face, she said “I’m Royce, daughter of Poseidon.” The older girl stood where she was, unsure if the huskies would take her stepping closer to shake hands as an attack. Watching the German Shepherd stand down, but still being tense, Max allowed himself to breath again. The last thing he wanted was for his pack to be sent away for creating troubles. Icefang also stopped growling and opted for a more glaring approach to the issue at hand. With Icefang more relaxed, the rest of the pack relaxed as well, more so than their Alpha herself. In fact, Tobby took a step forward, sniffing curiously at the weird girl that had somehow managed to get him wet. “I apologize if Rio startled you guys, it’s just what I trained him to do. He’s not used to other dogs at the academy is all." To that Max shook his head. "It's fine. Sled dogs are very aggressive when their hierarchy is challenged and they are very protective of me ever since that weird attack happened. So I guess it's kind of our fault as well." He gifted her with an awkward and apologetic smile, which promptly sifted into his jaw dropping as she introduced herself. "It's actually real?" He blurted out before shaking his head and regaining his composure. "I'm Max Dean, nice to meet ya. You too Rio. This is Icefang, she is the Beta. Then there's Toby, Kenai, Denahi, Sitka and Sena" He said and walked the entire distance between him and Royce, as he introduced himself and his pack, so they could talk without that awkward space between them. Icefang followed suit, keeping close next to him, her blue eyes never leaving the figure of Rio though there was no aggressiveness in her body language. "So Waterproof Powers come with the title? I could've sworn I hit you with the waterhose."--- Royce Reynolds
