Today was finally the day all of Royce’s extensive planning would be put into effect. Over the past year at camp, Royce had grown into a comparable demigod, and she had the help of one other camper in particular to thank for that: Elise Quill. It was the daughter of Hephaestus’ birthday, and Royce had been busy for weeks ironing out the details for throwing her a party. It really wasn’t anything too big, but the demigod was a bit of a perfectionist, and everything needed to be just so.
There was no other place Royce could think of for a party other than a beach. So, that’s where the girl began her setup. She began with bringing supplies on to the sand for a bonfire. Elise always seemed to be comfortable around a fire, and it was going to be almost dark buy the time the gathering started, so the light would be needed. Plus, Royce had heard that Atalanta had wanted to cook, so it would be useful for her as well. Next, the strong demigod dragged over all the loose chairs she could find around camp to sit around the fire and a picnic table she had managed to get on the sand. Along with the table, Royce was able to bring over a folding table to set up her makeshift bar. What would a party be without a little booze?
That was a whole other ordeal. Royce had to go out into the mortal world to get all the ingredients for the flame-themed drinks she wanted to make for Elise. It had cost her a small fortune, but she was able to get money from those who said they would be attending the party to chip in. The bar would essentially be their gift to the hardworking cabin leader. With the different bottle laid out across the table and solo cups on the side, the campers had the choice to make their own drinks or allow Royce to make them. The girl’s mother was a bartender, and had taught her everything she knew. The skill came in handy when entertaining, and this was a prime example of such.
Once everything seemed to be to Royce’s liking, the girl wiped her hands together and looked over the scene, satisfied with her work. The girl ran back to her cabin to change into something more appropriate for a beach party, and came back to wait for the other campers. Throughout the week, Royce told everyone at Camp Half-Blood about the event, so there was no excuse not to come. Elise would show up at 8:00 for what she thought would just be a few celebratory drinks with Royce. The time was 7:30 now, so they would all need to get into position before their friend arrived.
