Axel remembered his arrival day to camp like it was yesterday. He was scared shitless, that's for sure. But that was natural. Everyone had a different experience, and he was determined to make this new girl's as painless as possible. Well, aside from getting her S.P.Q.R. tattoo part. That would probably hurt a little. He would introduce her to the basics around camp, give her a tat, and bring her to her barracks. As long as she didn't come in overwhelmed, she would be fine.
The centurion had been briefed on the basics of the new member to the legion this morning. As far as he knew, the girl's name was Astrid, her mother was Victoria, she was in the Fourth Cohort, she was sixteen, and she had just come from sick bay due to a gash on her head. Everything else, he would be happy to learn from talking to the girl. Although he was happy to initiate Astrid to Camp Jupiter, he was a bit annoyed that someone from her own cohort didn't volunteer to do this. Those guys are lazy anyway, Axel thought with a scoff. Axel had to admit though, he was at least a bit excited to meet a new girl, maybe something good would come out of it.
Walking to the Principa, Axel flaunted some of his weapons to look like a legionnaire, but also but on a nice outfit because he could. His two daggers were strapped to both his hips over his black ripped jeans cuffed at the ankle, and a sword hung at his side. Other than that, he wore black combat boots and a black leather jacket open with a white tee underneath. Hair done up, he looked pretty good, and his mother would definitely be proud.
Only time would tell if Astrid was ready to become a part of the legion, and Axel was ready to introduce it to her.

Despite her insistence that she didn't need medical attention for the injury she sustained on her way to camp, Astrid was directed to the sick bay before she was able to do anything in camp. She still had everything she came in with, and at this point just wanted to take a nap, or at least get settled wherever she was staying. Of course that didn't happen and she was instead directed to a part of the camp called the Principia for her orientation or whatever they had called it (admittedly she hadn't been paying too much attention as she was still a bit annoyed by the immediate unnecessary medical attention upon entering). The blonde figured that the quicker she got whatever she needed to do over with the quicker she could do anything else, or at least explore where she'd be living. Using the directions given to her by the sick bay staff, Hawke made her way to the Principia slowly but surely, taking her time only to make an attempt to being to memorize her surroundings so she could get around easier. Everything seemed as though it was running like a well oiled machine, every person (and ghost, as well as the occasional faun) a gear doing its part to keep everything going smoothly. Idly, the teen wondered what her role in the machine would be, or if she even fit into it properly. As she approached the Principia, the daughter of Victoria tried to recall who she was supposed to be looking for. She knew she was looking for a Centurion, and the guy she saw seemed to look like he could fit in that role, he also seemed to fit the general description given to her by the staff at the sick bay, then again she supposed anyone could look like this guy. The blonde took a moment to remember the name given to her before approaching the guy standing there, Alex? Alec? Adam? " Axel?" she finally asked, hoping that she had gotten the name correct, as she walked up to talk to him at a respectful distance apart, " I'm Astrid, the medics said something about finding you here...unless you're not Axel and I'm making an ass out of myself." she added with a bit of a laugh. Normally she'd dive straight into an introduction dripping with sarcasm, but something told her that it wouldn't make the best first impression here. Axel Laughlen

In the distance, Axel found someone approaching the Principa. And at a slow, painful pace at that. Smirking, Axel watched the girl take in the views. He remembered doing the exact same thing as he walked through camp for the first time. Camp Jupiter was stunning, and Axel still thought that five years later. It was it's own little ecosystem, everything had a place and a purpose and a function. He had a feeling the new girl would fit in just fine, her body language didn't express fear anyway, just curiosity.
As she came closer into view, Axel caught her eye and made a quick up-down nod to signal for her to come over. When she asked his name he flashed his smile. "Yeah that's me. Nice to meet you, Astrid." The centurion held out his hand to shake hers. Axel figured he should start out somewhat formal with her, he didn't want to scare her away with any sarcasm or joke just yet. Only once she was comfortable with him on their tour would he test her. Laughing, Axel said, "You'll find out soon most of us are asses around here." The fact was completely true. They were Romans after all. They all knew how to have a good time and slay a monster at the same time. No ordinary person could do that and not give each other shit to let out their stress.
Axel cleared his throat. "Anyway, welcome to Camp Jupiter. I'm the Centurion of the Third Cohort, and I'll be your, uh, 'tour guide' today." The boy made air quotes with his hands around the words "tour guide". With the shock of seeing camp for the first time, Axel would try to make the experience as normal as he could. This place wasn't normal though, and he was sure she'd already figured that out anyway.

Astrid made eye contact with the boy in front of her, accepting his hand and shaking it firmly, just as her father had taught her to. " Nice to meet you too, Axel." she replied, breaking the handshake that she hoped had made a good impression. The blonde put her hand in the pocket of her jeans, idly realizing that she was dressed far to warmly for the weather in camp. " From what I remember in history class, most Romans were asses, so it's good to see that we're keeping the tradition alive." she retorted with a laugh, a small smirk on her face. " If I'm being honest, I've got no clue what half of those terms are referring to." Hawke admitted, " All the sick bay people told me was to look for a guy with your description with the title of Centurion, though if i'm being honest, I don't really know what a Centurion is...or does." she added. " What the sick bay staff didn't mention, however, was how attractive you are." she quipped, then stopped herself, " I...don't know why I said that, I've never found anyone attractive in my life..." she commented, mostly to herself more than anything. Wanting to get out of the awkward situation she just put herself in, the teen decided to move on, " What is a Cohort anyway?" she asked, avoiding eye contact. Astrid genuinely did not know anything about the structure of Roman Society. Lupa may have taught her how to fight like a Roman, but the politics involved were lost on her. " Also, what exactly is this tour going to be and how long will it take?" she inquired, " I'm kinda tired and a nap would be amazing if I'm being totally honest." she continued, rambling more than she should be. Internally the blonde scolded herself for losing her composition so quickly into a conversation. The lack of activity going on right now was screwing with her ability to stay focused, she needed something to do and soon. Axel Laughlen

Axel held the girl’s gaze as they shook hands. He laughed again at her joke and nodded his head in confirmation. At least she seemed somewhat prepared for what she was getting into here. Astrid also seemed like the girl who wouldn’t really take other people’s shit anyway. You definitely needed to be able to hold your own in New Rome. Now that the formalities had been taken care of, Axel had the feeling he was about to get bombarded with questions. Lupa failed to explain anything about the camp’s structure and way of life. He made a mental side note to talk to a Praetor about getting Lupa to explain at least the basics of Camp Jupiter politics. "Well, I hope they gave me a killer description, or I’ll definitely need to have a talking to with them about who they’re dealing with here.” They weren’t only dealing with a centurion, but a Son of Venus. No one should be going around disrespecting Venus and her kin on their looks. No one.
”Gods, those idiots didn’t tell you anything about me if they didn’t tell you that.” Axel rolled his eyes. That was like the biggest part of his description: the best looking guy in camp who also has a totally badass sense of style and carries around weapons all the time. What Axel found the most interesting though was that Astrid had not ever found anyone attractive before. Ah, wait. Powers, duh. But Axel knew that she actually thought that now, which was extremely satisfying to the boy. Smirking and giving her a sexy side eye glance, he replied, ”Ah yes, doesn’t it feel great. You’ve picked the right guy to fancy.” Axel gave her a wink, as he turned around to begin leading her to their first destination.
"Grab you're stuff, I might as well just show you your cohort barracks and explain on the way." Axel began walking and expected Astrid to follow. "A cohort is like your military unit, like a battalion in the regular military. There are five of them here, ranked as first is made up with the most skilled legionnaires, while the fifth is made up of the worst. You're in the fourth, so, well, you're not the best..." Axel really didn't know how else to put it. Oh well. "A centurion is the one in charge of the cohort. There isn't a centurion for your cohort right now, so they chose me to guide you around camp, because I'm the centurion of the third cohort. That or the legion thinks I'm their bitch, which they would be correct in thinking that." Axel chuckled and shook his head. The accuracy in his joke... The two were coming up on the barracks, and the boy led them to the fourth one. "This is where you and all the other kids in your cohort sleep. Put your stuff in an empty room and we'll get going. Maybe we'll nap later." No, they probably would not nap later, and Axel was harmlessly flirting with the poor new girl. He couldn't help it, it was in his nature.

Astrid shook her head with a laugh, " They just told me to find the tall guy at the Principia with a dumb look on his face, something along the lines of too many weapons with a huge ego." she retorted, smirking at the taller demigod. " They didn't mention anything about your devilishly good looks that would make anyone want you to take them as soon as they shook your hand." she quipped, only able to hold the facade for a couple minutes before breaking into laughter at the idea. As much as she wanted to keep it up the idea was so outlandish she couldn't believe herself. " Apparently the medics didn't care for much other than freeing up valuable bed space for the next dumbass to get themselves hurt and neglected to do so." she suggested, cracking her knuckles individually as they talked. The blonde was getting a bit antsy to get going, a bit sick of standing in the same place for such a long time. Hawke felt the warmth of a blush shade her cheeks, or perhaps it was the prolonged exposure to the sun at Axel's comment, " I never said I fancied you, hot shot." she retorted, returning the smirk. The teen did as instructed, gathering her belongings and following Axel towards the road she came from, " So they're who we spend all our time with and fight with basically?" she inferred, " Also how do they determine cohorts? Was I really that bad?" she questioned with a bit of a laugh at the end to make it clear she was joking about her adequacy. " So Centurions are basically dorm advisors with actual power." she commented, making a mental note, " You're doing a pretty good job at being their bitch right now, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a reward." she quipped with a smirk. The daughter of Victoria followed into the Fourth Cohort " Napping together? How scandalous." she retorted with a smirk, finding her groove in the banter between the two. She then found an empty room and began putting all of her crap in it, the linens seeming to change as she set her things down with other amenities appearing as well, all with a laurel crest on them. " So do most people have their stuff just show up when they claim their room?" she questioned a bit skeptically. Axel Laughlen

Axel rolled his eyes. "Hm, I’m sure that’s exactly what they said. But hey in my defense, we're required to carry a weapon you're skilled with at all times, and most people around here carry more than one.” The boy pointed at the daggers on his hips and the sword. Even though Camp Jupiter was safe for the most part, any demigod he knew wouldn’t go around without some form of defense on them at all times. Besides, the medics never carried weapons anyway. Axel looked down at the ground and laughed at her next comment. "They didn’t mention that because they haven’t had the experience…” He paused, looking up at Astrid. "But you have!”
Walking with the girl, he listened to her ramble on about the medics. He had been there so many times due to him being stupid and getting injured skateboarding or surfing he lost track. Although not one of them were from fighting. But he wasn’t going to let Astrid in on that. He came back out of his thoughts when Astrid said she never fancied him. Lies. He scoffed, his reply dripping in sarcasm. "Yeah ok, keep telling yourself that.”
As they walked towards the Fourth’s barracks, Axel was again bombarded with questions. He let Astrid finish with her remark on getting a reward for putting up with her antics. "In a way, yes. In battles you tend to fight with your cohort, as well as some trainings and duties you have to do around camp.” Axel paused, taking in another breath to continue. "Lupa determines your cohort, and as for how you did at the wolf house, only she knows. Sometimes kids get letters of recommendation letters from their godly kin. And correct, that’s what a Centurion is.” Axel shook his head and scowled. "All the Centurions are the Praetor’s bitches, I just happen to be their favorite at the moment. I’m still waiting on my reward, though.”
The two had come up to the barracks and Axel led her inside through the common room and into the hallway lined with rooms. Astrid then moved past him to claim a room. "Hey, you brought up the nap, not me.” Axel tried to hold in a smile and held his hands up innocently as he leaned his shoulder against the doorway. He watched, crossing his arms, as what seemed to be Astrid’s mother claiming her. "Yeah, generally that’s what happens when your godly parent claims you around here. Your mom must be Victoria.” He noticed the laurel crests appearing all around her room.

" In that case I've been breaking a rule since I got here." Astrid commented, she had collapsed her archery equipment and stored it in her gym bag shortly after arriving at camp, " Though I can definitely see you doing some damage with those daggers you've got." she admitted, shifting her focus to the melee weapons Axel was armed with. The blonde rolled her eyes, " Sadly for you, public indecency laws exist." she quipped in response. In reality, Hawke was all talk and no action, she had never even dated anyone, or even kissed. Her father forbade any sort of relationships (not that she was ever really interested in one) to make sure she didn't do anything that was potentially harmful to his career. " I happen to not fancy anyone, for your information." The teen clarified, " I'm demisexual, so the fact that I found you attractive at all upon just meeting you is a bit of a 'spiders georg' situation, if you will, an outlier compared to most of my experience with this stuff." she explained, putting spiders georg in air quotes. " Though maybe if I get to know you I'd genuinely be attracted to you, though I'd still like to know how it even happened in the first place." she noted. " I'm guessing we have daily chores and stuff like that then?" the demigod inferred, tying her hair up into a ponytail as they walked. " I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Lupa wasn't supremely impressed with my ability," she admitted, " it did take me six months just to get through training with her...I think, it's February now right?" she added. Hawke snorted at Axel's comment, " In my experience, the best rewards are the ones you have to wait for." she replied, " Even if it means you have to suffer in the meantime." she added. " Maybe your reward will be a satisfactory nap when you get the chance." The girl suggested, glancing back at the taller demigod as she put all of her things away in a semi organized fashion. " She gave me a letter, well gave my dad a letter, that detailed that I was supposed to go to the Wolf House, but I actually don't know much other than what google told me about her." she admitted, " Whose kid are you? she asked, " I don't think you've mentioned anything about yours yet." she added, finishing up the last of her unpacking. Axel shrugged. “You didn’t know, I won’t tell on you.” The boy smiled at the mention of his priceless daggers and pulled them out of their holsters, twirling them around his hand. “I worked hard to learn how to fight with these bad boys.” He nodded at her next comment. “Ah yes, but it’s all about getting creative.” Axel winked, hoping this would shut her up and take the hit.
The demigod sat back and listened to her story. He took it in seriously, but was also surprised Astrid was telling him about her sexuality right off the bat. He understood the process she had to go through. Axel liked a straight shooter. Although Axel had to smirk when she admitted that the girl did indeed find him attractive. He was used to people thinking that of him, but it felt nice to hear it out loud. Once Astrid was finished, Axel replied slowly. “Well… then I guess this is a good start.” Gods, he was such a flirt.
This girl could really talk your ear off. Although, Axel supposed this was all coming from her excitement of being at camp. He couldn’t blame her really, but he let the girl talk as she unpacked her things. “Pretty much, the cohorts get assigned to do something different each day.” The boy just chuffed at her remark on rewards. Although he couldn’t read what Astrid meant by a satisfactory nap. With her? Axel definitely wasn’t going to admit that sounded just the slightest bit nice.
“It’s alright about your mom, that’s what I went through too.” Axel laughed. He rarely forgot to talk about himself. “I’m a son of Venus.” He rolled up the sleeve of his right arm, exposing his underarm and camp tattoo. Axel stepped into the room closer to Astrid so she could see it closer. “As you can see here, my mothers symbol is on the top, a half of a clam shell and myrtle flower. Underneath is S.P.Q.R. for the roman legion, and underneath that are bars representing how many years I’ve served. I just got my forth bar about two months ago.” The last brand was still healing, and was still a bit sore. He looked at Astrid to watch her reaction, whom he now had to look down to, as she was much shorter.

Astrid watched as Axel demonstrated his skills with the daggers. Admittedly she was impressed, especially considering the most she could do with a set of knives was cook, " Maybe you can teach me sometime, I've got zero skill with knives unless you want food, then I've got you covered." she replied. The blonde felt warmth flood her cheeks, red tinging her fair skin, she didn't have a response to that one, she didn't even know what she could say in response. Instead, she laughed and shook her head, hoping to play the moment off as though it hadn't affected her. Hawke immediately regretted going into a spiel like that about her sexuality. She generally didn't come out to someone she had only known for a few moments, but she figured it was best to avoid any future issues by nipping it in the bud now. She had never actually dated anyone, nor found anyone attractive, but going to a camp full of other demigods might prove to have mixed results. The teen laughed at Axel's response, hoping she could lighten the mood she had put a damper on, " You still haven't explained how you did the whole attraction thing." she reminded. " So what kind of tasks do we have to do?" she asked, " I want to familiarize myself with this stuff so I'm prepared when I have to actually do them." she clarified. Growing up whenever Astrid was able to get a head start or an edge on something she took the opportunity, always being proactive when it came to situations. She also liked being able to have a set of guidelines for what she needed to do, especially with her ADHD a little bit of order went a long way. Knowing herself, she'd most likely find more efficient ways to do half the tasks she needed to do before she even needed to do them. " Venus, that explains a lot." she remarked, choosing not to clarify. In all honesty she didn't know as much about Venus as she should. Hawke hoped there was some sort of class they took on deities because she definitely was not caught up on who they all were, which would most likely land her in hot water knowing her luck. The blonde looked at Axel's tattoo as he rolled his sleeve up, an eyebrow raised, " So I'm going to guess those aren't done like mortal tattoos judging by the way your fourth bar looks right now." she inferred, glancing up at Axel above her. Axel was shocked, did the witty girl just give him a compliment? He gave her a side glance. “I guess I could do that. Maybe you can make me your best meal then.” If there was food involved, Axel was always in. As a teenage boy, his appetite was endless, and the mess food got tiring fast. He inwardly smiled as he successfully made Astrid blush again. The girl was stumped and that was just perfect.
The boy was glad Astrid lightened up the conversation a bit after Axel’s comment. He tried to do that himself, but it might have just come out more awkward that anything, which was very rare for him. Being a son of Venus, Axel was incredibly skilled in social situations. He pretended to be taken aback when Astrid asked how he attracted her. “Uh, natural ability of course. Have you seen me? I’m irresistible, and I’m clothed!” What he said wasn’t entirely false. Yes, he did have the “natural ability” or “power” of Venus to attract the opposite gender, Axel was a good looking guy.
Sighing and shaking his head, Axel looked disappointedly at Astrid. He knew she was competitive and all with being a daughter of Victoria, but this was taking the daily chores to the next level. “You really want to prepare yourself for washing dishes, being a mess man, cleaning the grounds, doing paperwork for the Praetors? The list goes on. You’ll be fine, any dumbass could do them.”
From the look on Astrid’s face, clearly the name ‘Venus’ didn’t mean a lot to her. If she really knew what his mother was all about, she’d have a much different expression. Should he tell her though? Probably. He felt like he should be truthful with the girl, because it seemed they would be spending more time together, as she wanted him to teach her how to fight with knives. Axel decided he would put it simply and wouldn’t go into that she was not only the Goddess of Love and Beauty, but also desire, sex, fertility, and prosperity. That would probably make the girl too uncomfortable. “Venus: the Goddess of Love and Beauty. Might wanna brush up on your Gods.” He laughed, waiting for the gears to click in Astrid's head.
"Yeah these tattoos are like brands so they don't fade. You'll have to get yours soon, everyone here has one." Axel ran his hand over the brand, feeling pride for all his hard work that had lead him to this point. The amount of work he put in to get these was unfathomable. "But getting these doesn't mean you can't get mortal tattoos, I've got a collection of my own all over." The boy had a bunch of tattoos around his feet and ankles and upper thighs, things he could easily cover up. But they looked cool when he was at the beach or something of the sorts.

Astrid shot Axel a grin at his proposal, " Deal, though my best meal doesn't require any knives," she replied, " I can make the best spaghetti you've ever had though." she boasted. The demigod hadn't been bluffing about knowing how to make good pasta. Tons of her teammates back home had lauded her for the dish. At that thought the blonde frowned slightly, realizing she'd most likely never see the majority of her teammates or friends from school ever again. Did they even care that she was suddenly gone at the start of their junior year of high school? She couldn't exactly tell them she had to leave to go to a camp halfway across the country. Hawke scoffed at Axel's self-praise, adding an eye roll in for dramatic effect. " I've never felt attraction towards anyone though, so it's all really...odd for me?" she replied, " I don't really ever get the 'I need to fuck this person now' feeling that most people experience." putting 'I need to fuck this person now' in air quotes, " I feel like I need to sort out...whatever that feeling was because it's not exactly normal for me." she continued, half just to herself. The teen scrunched her nose at the other demigod's comment, " I'd rather be well prepared than do something with no background information." she reasoned. The chores here didn't seem entirely too difficult, nothing that her dad hadn't shown her how to do growing up, though doing paperwork for Praetors wasn't something she had experience with it couldn't be too hard. Then again nothing was too hard if she worked at it enough, " Speaking of paperwork, do you guys write in English or Latin?" she asked, " I saw some Latin on buildings while I was coming in, and I guess that'd be what ancient Romans spoke, but I've never taken a Latin class in my life." she explained, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The girl's face flushed at Axel's explanation, not only because of who his mother was, but also her less than satisfactory knowledge of the Roman deities. " No one really ever taught me about this stuff. she admitted sheepishly, " I didn't even know anything about my mom until I googled her." she continued, " All my dad told me about her was that they met after he won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks, and she found him after the game in his Jersey." she shrugged. Astrid's head cocked slightly at the mention of how legionnaires were given their tattoos, " Brands?" she echoed, " Like the kind cows have?" she asked, hoping for clarification. A brand did not sound like a good time, and she had to get one soon, though how soon was soon? The blonde laughed a bit at Axel's admission of having a few mortal tattoos, " Maybe you'll have to show me sometime." she replied, a smirk back on her lips. " I've always wanted to get a tattoo of my dad's jersey number and my jersey number. she commented, always having wanted a tattoo, but never being old enough to get one. " I've got a couple of piercings though." she noted, pushing strands of hair behind her left ear to show him her industrial piercing of an arrow. Axel gave Astrid a goofy smile and laughed saying, “So it’s a date then?” He noticed the girl looked a bit down after she offered to make him the meal. He wondered what she was thinking about. Maybe it was past memories that held her face in a frown. The boy hoped his question would at least make her laugh, but more importantly say yes. Axel may not be the guy to typically be in a relationship, but a casual date wouldn't hurt. Plus it would be new for him.
Astrid went on about how she still had never been attracted to anyone in her life before, and Axel was surprised by her sudden change of language. Woah, that’s what she thought? That’s new… Axel didn’t think his powers were that strong, maybe he just made a really good first impression? Screw it, he might as well tell her about that power. “Well, with my powers being a demigod of Venus, sometimes when I first meet people of the opposite gender they're attracted to me. But never like how you explained it.” He winked at the end, suggesting that maybe he was different.
"We mostly write in English, but very important official papers are written in Latin. Being a Centurion, I have to write some things in Latin, so I taught myself. You don’t need to worry about that though unless you want to learn for the hell of it.” Axel shrugged. “I was lucky and learned some stuff on the Gods when I was still in school, but once I got here I looked up everything I could find. You’ll get time to eventually, so don’t worry about it.” Axel remembered the similar story his father told him about his mother. The Gods certainly worked in mysterious ways.
The boy nodded, stepping away from Astrid and towards the door of her room. “The medics give them to us, so its safe and sterile. It hurts a little, but it’s worth it.” This wasn’t really the time to get deep with the girl about how he felt about his brand, but it meant a lot to him. Leading the girl out of the barracks, he continued and smirked, shaking his head. “Well, uh, some of them are in pretty scandalous places.” He held up his pointer finger. “But not all.” He added. Axel was a bit obsessed when it came to tattoos. If he wasn’t spending his money on clothes, it was on getting tattoos. He couldn’t remember how many he had accumulated over the years off the top of his head, but it was at least ten. “Age isn’t a problem, I can just charm the artist and you’d be fine.” Ah yes, it paid off to be a demigod. Piercings eh? That's hot. He smirked. "Oh, I have a few too." Axel pretended to dramatically move long hair out of the way of his ears, mocking Astrid. Although, Axel actually did have ear piercings: a dangle silver angel wing on his left ear, and a thin silver hoop on his right.
(Also adding earring portion.)

Astrid smiled and shrugged in response, " A date, sparring and spaghetti...no, noodles and knives." she agreed, proud of her date naming abilities. Did people do that? It seemed like something people would do. " A fair warning though, I don't really have...experience with dates." she admitted a bit sheepishly, pulling herself out of her thoughts of her friends back home. If she couldn't see those friends again, she'd have to do her best to make new connections here. Idly she wondered if anyone liked hockey. Would they know who her dad was? Malcolm Hawke was a household name in some parts of the country. The blonde nodded slowly at Axel's explanation, absorbing the info, " So even though attracting the opposite gender is a 'normal' thing for you, the way I reacted was abnormal?" she inquired, putting 'normal' in air quotes. Nothing about a camp full of demigods was normal at any rate, but Hawke was admittedly curious as to what made her reaction different. Maybe she did find him attractive, even without his "powers". Sexuality was fluid and there wasn't really anything that would exempt her from that, she hadn't really explored much on the dating side of things. The teen breathed a sigh of relief under her breath, " That's good to know, I can barely write in English properly. Dyslexia really screws you over." she admitted. The girl was a bit disappointed that she left her laptop that helped her dyslexia with a google chrome extension at home, though she supposed it most likely wouldn't work here for some reason or another. " Maybe you should teach me some on that date you were talking about." she suggested as she put the last of her things away. Although it wasn't much, she was eager to make the space her home. Hawke followed the taller demigod as he walked, " So is getting the brand part of today's agenda? she asked, " Because I really think the medics could have saved some time there." she remarked. The teen figured the brand couldn't hurt any more than a hockey puck to the face (even with a helmet that was painful). " Scandalous, eh? I can't imagine that you'd find anywhere to be scandalous." she quipped, " Actually, my birthday is at the end of the month, so if you wanted to get me a present..." she commented, hoping he'd get the hint. One part of her didn't want to spend her birthday alone, the other genuinely wanted to do something with her newfound...friend? She wasn't quite sure what they were to be honest, they had only known each other for around an hour now, so it was hard to discern. The blonde laughed at Axel's overly dramatic "reveal" of his earring, she hadn't known many guys back home with piercings, but she didn't dislike his, she actually liked them a bit, as they fit the other demigod well. Axel giggled (in the most masculine way possible). “Noodles and knives, I like it. And maybe naps.” The boy nodded with approval. Astrid was a lot more cool than he expected. At the very least, he knew they would be good friends. The son of Venus smiled. “Well once you’ve been on a date with me, you’re standards will too high for most guys.” He ran his fingers through his hair. Axel wasn’t worried at all, he practically radiated confidence. Plus, he knew how to impress a girl. He’d only been on dates with mortals though, so taking a demigod out was going to be new for him.
Axel held up his hands and shrugged. “Yeah, I can’t say I’ve gotten an immediate ‘down to fuck’ response. Huh, guess it’s not a bad thing...” He chuckled, actually having no clue himself what made Astrid have the reaction she did. Maybe his powers were just getting stronger? He couldn’t come up with an explanation though, unless he was just getting more attractive with age.
The demigod cringed. He was affected by dyslexia too, and it definitely made things harder to do. “I'm dyslexic too, writing anything takes forever, so I feel you there. A lot of times you’re brain will automatically translate latin with being a demigod and all.” The sensation was weird. If you looked at a temple or something of the such with latin scribed on it, you’re brain felt fuzzy for a moment, then words seemed to appear in English. “But if you want to become fluent, you’ll have to teach yourself. Everyone learns it differently.” If Axel was honest, he also had no clue how to go about teaching someone the confusing language.
“Yes, if you’re up to it. I’m going to show you the rest of camp first though.” Axel continued walking through the cohort buildings were, pointing to each one and telling Astrid which was which. He shook his head as they walked. “No, you needed to get officially claimed first, which just happened in your room.” Axel laughed at her next comment. “Scandalous for you.” He paused to let Astrid’s dirty mind wander. Axel smiled when she suggested a present. “Damn, and I thought I was forward.” He chuffed. “Im kidding, but seriously unless it’s super small, you’re looking at a pricy ordeal. I’d be happy to help though, anything for the princess on her birthday.” He smirked, figuring being a fighting demigod and all, she would find some offense to this.
