Astrid laughed at Axel's reaction, " Naps would be a good addition, pasta does tire one out." she agreed, though naps were always good in her opinion, after all who needed actual sleep if you just napped instead? The blonde rolled her eyes, " Don't get too cocky, I currently have zero standards, and you'll be setting the bar for the future, we'll find out whether it's high or low later." she commented, " But we'll see considering me having no bar means you could probably do anything and I'll be impressed." the teen shrugged, after all it wasn't as though she had any frame of reference that wasn't her friends or a mortal TV show. At the other demigod's next comment Hawke started laughing and didn't stop for nearly a minute, " That wasn't what I was talking about, the 'wanting you to take me as soon as I shook your hand' comment was sarcasm." she explained still laughing, " I meant me feeling any attraction at all was weird for me, though it only really happened for a moment, if I'm being honest." the girl didn't mean to let the other demigod down, but she was surprised that he thought she was being serious about her initial comment. Astrid scrunched her nose, " So are most people here dyslexic?" she asked, " I feel like everyone would be screwed otherwise if it helps us read Latin." she noted, hoping she had made that connection properly, " Well I should probably know some Latin just in case, I mean you said that Centurions have to know some and seeing as the fourth cohort doesn't have one..." she reasoned, a bit too ambitious for her own good she figured knowing Latin beforehand would give her an advantage, and the daughter of Victoria was all about having advantages in these types of situations. The blonde made a mental note to find out more about Latin later. Hawke scrunched her nose again, " Technically I had a letter that I could have shown them proving that...if I had known about it ahead of time." she commented, " I may as well get the brand done today, faster I get it faster it'll heal yeah?" she reasoned, following him as they walked through the camp. The blonde shook her head at his reply about the scandalous-ness of his tattoo, choosing not to think about where it could possibly be instead. The teen shrugged when the other demigod mentioned the tattoo would be pricy, lightly punching his bicep when he called her princess and hoping it wasn't going over the line, " I'd only need you there for charming the artist, having a dad that plays for an NHL team comes in really handy when you need it." she replied. It wasn't as though she was spoiled or flaunted her dad's wealth, but her dad did give her a card to use "in case of emergencies", but most of her emergencies were covered here, so it wasn't as if there'd be any harm in doing so. Axel grinned. Well if this girl hadn’t been on a date he’d make sure to give her the Axel Laughlen treatment for sure. She basically dared him to do so in her comment, and he definitely had a competitive streak in him. He wasn’t just going to take the easy way out since Astrid didn’t have any standards yet in terms of dates, so all he responded to her was, “Oh, just you wait.” No sooner did he feel all high and mighty thinking of ways to impress Astrid did she strike his ego right back down. She laughed what he could tell was at him. What the hell did I say? Confusion poured over his face as he listened to the girl between her laughing bouts. Confusion turned into shock, that slowly melted away into a bit of sadness. “Whatever, man, the thought of it was nice while it lasted,” he said disappointed. It was rare for Axel to miss any sort of sarcasm, but he guessed the girl got him there.
Shaking off the slight embarrassment, Axel continued to answer Astrid’s bountiful questions. “As far as I know, yes. A lot of demigods are also ADHD/ADD. It gives us quick reaction times in battle. Mine isn’t as bad as others, but it’s still there.” His attention disorders didn’t give him too much trouble, it was really the dyslexia that killed him. He supposed his mild case of ADHD was why he had to train extra hard to be the skilled fighter that he was now. The boy continued and chuckled. “Don’t get too ahead of yourself, now. Although you’d probably be the most responsible person in your cohort, you need to be at camp for some time and have way more experience.” He shook his head, although admiring her ambition.
Axel shrugged. “Oh well. But yes you’re right, and I’ll even let you hold my hand, princess.” The boy smirked. Boy, did he love giving people shit. It definitely got him intro trouble sometimes, but this was all just fun and jokes right now. Axel batted Astrid away and laughed as he felt the light blow to his arm. “I have no problem doing that, but maybe it should be you treating me to a tat, NHL players make bank.” Axel picked up jobs where he could here and there just to pay for his need for many tattoos, clothes, and shoes. He had magical powers over the last two, so those didn’t give his wallet as much of a hit, but those tattoos were just so damn expensive. Not to mention when he got his ears pierced.
As the two passed the barracks, they came up to the mess hall. He looked down at Astrid, tapping her arm and pointing to the building in front of them. "That's the mess hall, pretty good eats there. Wanna get a quick bite to go for the rest of the tour?" And just as he said that, his stomach gave a loud rumble. "Because if you don't I still am." Not giving Astrid much of a choice, he walked ahead and opened the door for the girl. In Axel's mind, chivalry was most definitely not dead.

Astrid quirked a brow at Axel's response, " Are we at least going to set a date for this...date? she asked, " I have to know when I need to clear my calendar, I'm sure this will be an all day event." she quipped. From the little she had seen of the other demigod, it seemed as though he was the type of person to plan something large and extravagant, especially considering his response. She wasn't even sure what she'd wear for a date where he planned on teaching her how to use knives, her cooking spaghetti and possibly a nap. When her laughter died down, Hawke looked at Axel apologetically, " I'm sorry for misleading you, I didn't even realize that I had been misleading you." she apologized. He had just looked so crushed and she felt terrible because of it, " I forgot that you aren't really used to my sarcasm yet, so it probably came off as being genuine." she explained, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. " But I mean maybe that could happen, I can't know from just an hour of knowing you." she added, hoping it would give the other demigod at least a little bit of hope. The blonde nodded, " That makes a lot of sense, I've got ADHD and I was getting tired of being in the same place just talking on the Principia." she admitted, " It's good to know I have a lesser chance of being killed then." she added with a bit of a laugh. It was a good feeling to know that something that had plagued her in the mortal world would benefit her here. " What can I say?" she said, replying to his comment about getting ahead of herself, " I tend to be proactive with stuff like that, and I'm always up to help." she shrugged. Astrid scrunched her nose at being called Princess, " I guess you could hold my hand, only if it helps you sleep at night." she retorted, though she did think that it may help distract her from the pain a bit. There's no way a brand could be anything close to painless. The teen mused over his suggestion for a moment, " I guess I could also buy a tattoo for you, but you'd have to get us there, I don't know anything about this area." she reasoned, wondering what Axel was planning on getting (and where). Hawke's stomach grumbled almost on queue as Axel pointed out the mess hall, " That would be absolutely fantastic, I'm starving." she admitted, " How does food even work here? I doubt you can just get stuff from mortal vendors." she reasoned, walking through the door that the taller demigod had so nicely held open for her with a mumbled 'thanks' under her breath. The girl took her hair out of her ponytail and began quickly braiding it like she did for most meals as she walked inside so she could avoid getting any food in her hair. She refused to get any food in the hair that she took care of so well. Axel Laughlen

Axel thought for a moment, wracking his mind of what he had to do in the upcoming week. He had to hold training for their cohorts at least once this week, he was on watch a couple times, he had to go to a meeting with the Praetors and one with just Centurions. And on top of that, he would have to make a lesson plan for Astrid for their date. Axel still wasn’t used to the term ‘date’ and it sounded weird in his head. A good weird, though. “Sometime next weekend probably, the legion usually gives us off most of those days. But you’re right, this will probably take all day.” And maybe though the night…? Once the boy knocked out he definitely wouldn’t be waking up until the morning. He would have to check his own calendar on a day for sure though.
Shaking his head and dismissing the thought, he started to very obviously to pretend to cry, whining fake tears from his face. “It’s fine… everything’s fine.” He couldn’t hold in his laughter anymore and started chuckling. “I’m kidding but it’s ok, really. Sarcasm usually doesn’t go by me is all.” He smiled and raised an eyebrow up at her, seeing that she was getting awkward at her last comment. “You’re probably not wrong there, it’s definitely a possibility.”
It was decided. Axel would call Astrid Princess just to annoy the tough demigod. The name had a nice ring to it. He smirked at her retort, knowing she was probably just covering up the fact that she would like that. He didn’t blame her though, getting the brand wasn’t going to be the best feeling in the world. Axel nodded confidently at Astrid’s request. “I lived in LA before coming to camp so I know the area and go to the same place for all of my tats. Plus my brother and sister live in New Rome, so I’ll be able to borrow their car, no problem.” The thought of going to see his siblings made him smile. He always missed them, and he kept trying to convince his twin brother to join the legion, but to no avail yet.
Walking in the door there were low couches everywhere, arranged around tables. There were five sections for the five cohorts. Axel led them to the section for the third cohort out of instinct. He pointed this out to Astrid and said, “There’s a section for each cohort, this one’s for the third, and the fourth is right next to it. You don’t always have to sit in your own though, as long as you’re with someone from that cohort, no one has a problem.” he pointed over his shoulder so Astrid would know. Axel went and sat down on a couch. “The wind spirits deliver whatever they’re making for the day right to us. I’m not entirely sure where they get the food from, but it’s always really good so I don’t complain.” A wind spirit came racing over to them, carrying what they knew was Axel’s favorite food: pineapple pizza.

Astrid nodded, mentally making a note to not make any other plans next weekend, though she was sure she wouldn't make any due to her lack of friends at camp thus far. " Sounds good," she replied, " where do you want to meet, and what should I wear?" she asked, never one for skipping details like that. To be completely honest she wasn't sure what to wear, and figured Axel probably had something in mind either way, so she'd rather live up to his expectations than disappoint. The blonde also hoped she could find what she needed to make her famous spaghetti in camp, or she'd have to figure out how to go to the mortal world for groceries. Hawke made a point of scoffing at the other demigods overexaggerated reaction, blowing a strand of hair out of her face in the process, " I take it back then, I'm not sorry" she joked with a laugh playing into his reaction. The teen scrunched her nose at his next reply, " You realize that by talking about yourself by this you could make yourself seem more amazing in my expectations of you than you actually are, and end up not meeting any of my expectations of you at all." she pointed out, doubting that he had seen where she was coming from. The girl quirked her head to the side slightly, " Do your siblings share your mom or do they have other parents?" she inquired. She herself didn't have any siblings, at least from her dad, she didn't know if she had any half siblings here at camp, which happened to prompt her next question, " Does Victoria have other kids here?" she asked, a glimmer of hope in her blue eyes, " I don't have any at home, from my dad, I mean, so it'd be cool to have more family. she explained. On one side Hawke was curious as to what Axel's siblings were like, were they as flirty and forward as him? Why did they live in New Rome? She decided that those questions were better kept to herself instead of bothering him more. Astrid followed the taller demigod to the seating, taking a seat next to him after he sat down and watching as he was given a pineapple pizza. The blonde scrunched her nose in disgust but chose not to comment on it as she didn't want to offend her new friend, at least not yet. " So how do I order?" she asked sheepishly as she rubbed her right forearm nervously, a habit she always had when adapting to new situations. She was hungry for the chicken tender meal she got from her favorite restaurant back home, with fries, a dinner roll and the best honey mustard. It wasn't the most sophisticated meal in the world, but it was comfort food for her. She doubted they'd have it here, considering nowhere else she ever went had the meal the way that restaurant made it. She also idly wondered if she'd be able to get something to drink seeing as Axel hadn't gotten anything with his pizza, a root beer would be so nice (even if it was unhealthy). Axel Laughlen

Axel chuckled at Astrid’s questions. “Man, you don’t miss a thing, do you? Alright, since you’re still learning the layout of camp, I’ll meet you outside your barracks. And wear something you’d workout in. We’re gonna be moving around a lot.” He wondered if Astrid realized how much he loved clothing. Probably not, considering she didn’t know anything about Venus until he told her. It was a side affect of being her son, and hopefully she wouldn’t judge him for it when she realized he was always very put together.
Expectations? She’s just met me… “Alright then, what exactly are you expecting? I only tell the truth, but I do aim to please.” He raised an eyebrow up, looking down at Astrid for her reaction. Axel also only spoke the truth, everything he said about himself was true if he remembered correctly? He wasn’t really one for lying.
Talking about his siblings always brought a smile to his face. Asking them to move to New Rome so they could be somewhat together was the best thing he had ever done. “I have a twin brother who’s also a son of Venus, although he didn’t want to join the legion, but I’ll get him to eventually. My older sister is a mortal.” Axel’s brother Brett was much more peaceful than he, and didn’t have much of an interest in fighting. Axel still pressed him to join the legion to be closer to his brother though. The demigod had to think for a moment at Astrid’s next question. "Hm, not that I know of, but I could be wrong." Axel knew what Astrid meant. His brother was his best friend, and he had no idea what he’d do without him so close by.
Axel’s mouth watered as he smelt the pineapple pizza being served to him. Ignoring Astrid’s question and downing a slice before he paid attention to the other demigod, he sighed with content. Coming back to focus, Axel looked over at Astrid. “Oh uh, sorry, couldn’t help it.” The boy did love his food. “Just think of what you want and it’ll be over in a sec.” Just as Axel said that, a glass of milk was set down on the table in front of him. Ignoring the girl again for his food, he chugged the milk down, and then grabbed another slice of pizza. For eating so fast, at least he wasn’t a sloppy eater. “Just trying to hurry up ya know, we still have a ways to go on our tour.”

Astrid laughed at Axel's note that she didn't miss anything, she was very detail oriented, primarily as a way to cope with her tendency to forget most things, so the more details the better as there was more of a chance of her remembering. " It's a good thing I'm into sports," she remarked with a smile, " I'm positive I wouldn't have anything to work out in otherwise." she noted, already getting ideas of what she'd wear together. No matter what she planned on wearing the Blackhawks Hoodie her dad had given her before she left. It was her favorite hoodie, and it reminded her of him. Hawke bit her lip, she hadn't expected the other demigod to question her on the expectations she had for him, " Well you did say that my standards would be too high for most guys afterward, so that conveys that you'll do something amazing, or at least close to it." she shrugged, using his own words against him. To be honest, the blonde was actually a bit curious as to what standards the other demigod would impart to her, though she supposed anything would impress her considering her lack of experience in the dating field. The teen quirked a brow, " Fraternal or identical?" she asked, knowing that there was a difference between twins from the set of twins that were on her hockey team at school, " They let mortals into camp?" she asked next, a bit surprised considering the secrecy they appeared to operate under from what she could tell. Hawke's expression fell, a bit disappointed that she didn't have any siblings. " Well I'll just have to make a lot of friends to make up the difference." she decided, determined not to let the fact that she didn't have siblings bring her down. The blonde rolled her eyes at Axel's response to his heretic pizza, she could never get behind fruit on pizza, much less pineapple. " I'm not going to lie, as someone who grew up in Chicago for part of my life your taste in pizza wounds me." she jested before listening to his instructions on how to get food. She thought of the meal she had been wanting since she left her home in Milwaukee for the Wolf House, her favorite food from her favorite restaurant, Bakers Square. Soon the chicken tender meal with fries, dinner roll and honey mustard she had been craving was delivered in front of her, it even smelled like the food from back home. A glass of root beer with no ice (and no straw, she refused to use them because of their inability to biodegrade) appeared shortly afterward. The teen punched Axel in the shoulder, this time a bit harder, at his remark for her to hurry up, before eating the food that somehow tasted exactly like it did at home. " This is actual magic." she remarked before taking a drink of her root beer, " There's no way this should be able to taste like this, yet, here it is, exactly like it is at home." she commented, still amazed. Axel definitely had a thing for athletic chics, they always seemed more down to earth and more similar to him than the models or artist girls he’d dated before. There was more they could related to, and they weren’t nearly as high maintenance. “That’s good, that’s almost all I wear during the week. What sports are you into?” Axel inquired. He realized Astrid had been asking so much about him and camp that he hadn’t had a chance to ask her anything about herself.
Watching as the girl bit her lip, he could tell she was a bit thrown from his question. Her response was good though, he’d have to give her that. “I mean, I’ll try to think of something good, I guess. I’ve never actually asked a demigod out on a date before…” He admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as the pressure of this date suddenly washed over him. “There’s only so much you can do at a training session, so I’ll have to get creative.” A bit of confidence surged back into him. Either way, Axel assumed his company alone would make for at least a decent time.
That was probably the number one question the twins were always asked. They couldn’t really blame other people though, they looked just enough alike where you had to question it, but different enough were it wasn’t terribly difficult to tell the boys apart. “We’re identical.” Oh the pranks they could play here if Brett came to camp. They’d wreak havoc for sure. “It was hard to get my sister in here, but she wouldn’t have had a place to go if she didn’t come with. So the legion just keeps a close eye on her.” Axel smiled, Astrid would hopefully fit in well and be able to meet more of her family as well.
Axel stuck his nose up at Astrid’s remark and he grabbed his third slice of pizza. “And as someone who grew up in LA, you’re opinions on pizza are irrelevant because this is my favorite.” He pointed to the rest of his pie, offering her a slice. “Can’t knock it ’til ya try it.” Of course, Axel wasn’t picky when it came to pizza, but this was definitely his first choice. He laughed as Astrid’s meal came and she became amazed. “What did you expect, for this place to be normal or something?” He chuckled as he asked the rhetorical question. Axel winced as he received another blow from the girl. Holding his shoulder, he complained, “Alright now what was that for? I said we’d be taking most of this to go!” With that, Axel took one more slice of his pizza and stood up, now holding one in each hand.

Astrid scrunched her nose in thought as she tried to recall the various sports she played, " I mean, I play a lot of sports, I'm pretty good at most of them." she prefaced, " But I started gymnastics at age four," she began, starting to count on her fingers as she went, " hockey at age five-which my dad was very happy about, archery at age six-which I suppose isn't really a sport for me anymore, and volleyball shortly after." she explained. It didn't seem like a long list she supposed, but those were her focuses. Her mother may be Victoria, but every sport she did she worked her ass off to do well in. Hawke shook her head, " What's so different about dating a demigod compared to a mortal?" she inquired, " It's not like we're that much different at the core, we're still people." she shrugged. In reality not much had changed besides maybe being more toned after training with Lupa at the Wolf House and moving to Camp Jupiter. Otherwise she was still the same person, just with some new perks. The thought made her wonder what children of Victoria could do if children of Venus could attract the other gender. It'd make sense if she could do some stuff as well." Don't forget that the date isn't just training, I still get to try to impress you with my world famous spaghetti, and the possible nap." she reminded. The teen nodded in response to his explanation, " I don't know why, but I kind of assumed you were identical. For some reason you just seem like you'd use something like that to your advantage." she replied with a shrug. " Maybe I could meet your siblings sometime." she suggested, " It'd probably be good to know someone or at least have some connections in New Rome." she reasoned, though part of her just wanted to meet Axel's family, seeing as how highly he spoke of them. " It's nice that they let your sister stay," she added, " it must be really reassuring to know that she's safe." Astrid made a face at the pizza, " Trust me, I've already tried that abomination you call pizza, and I definitely do not like it." she assured him. One of her teammate's dad was a chef at a pizza place, so she and the team always got to try the different types of pizza. " Well I didn't expect my favorite food from a restaurant halfway across the country to be available, tasting just like it does there." she reasoned. Other restaurants she went to never got close to this taste. The teen hastened herself, eating the rest of her food at a pace where she could taste it but quick enough for Axel's impatience. Finally she downed the rest of her root beer, chugging it so she didn't waste any, which she hoped didn't look too negatively on herself. " Where to next?" she questioned, tidying the dishes into a more feasible pile so whoever took them had an easier time collecting them. Axel Laughlen

Axel nodded, typical for a Victoria kid. He secretly wondered if he would be able to beat her in any of those sports, as they had done one of the same and he considered himself to be coordinated. Being an athlete himself, he shared his own list. “I did gymnastics too, then football and wrestling competitively for a bit when I was really young. Now I fool around with surfing and skateboarding.” Huh, his list was pretty long too. Axel could never get serious about them though, seeing as he came to camp when he was only thirteen. The demigod wondered what he would have stuck with had he never came here.
The boy shrugged, not entirely sure what the difference would actually be seeing as he’d never gotten close with a girl demigod. “Different interests? Different living situations? Not nearly as badass? I don’t know, most of the girls I’ve dated were models or something of the sort.” As soon as Axel said who he’d dated before he immediately regretted it. Rule #1, never talk about exes. “But, um, you’re different…” he stammered, a light shade of pink flushing his cheeks, “in a good way… yeah…” He shook his head. What the fuck Axel, you’re such a douchebag. Hopefully Astrid would just laugh his awkwardness off. Axel would certainly try to bounce back. Smiling he retorted, “I’m not picky when it comes Italian, so I’m sure it’ll be a 10 from me, and how could I forget about that nap?” He winked.
Astrid saw right through him. She must have already picked up on his mischievous streak. He gave her a little half smile, choosing not to reply and leaving her to her own assumptions. His eyes widened at her suggestion of meeting his siblings, though. “Wooow, you’re already demanding to meet the fam, huh?” Astrid sounded like the girlfriend he didn’t have. He snickered to her reasoning. He understood though, it would probably make her feel more comfortable. Either way, he was oddly flattered by the suggestion. No here one had ever met his family, not even his closest friends. Nodding, he responded seriously, “It is, and that’s what makes me sleep at night.”
Axel dismissed Astrid’s insult on his pizza by scrunching up his face. Damn northerners. Camp Jupiter worked in ways he would never be able to fathom. The food here was impeccable even when they just served you whatever was leftover. Axel watched as the girl housed her meal in less than five minutes. As Astrid finished by chugging her root beer, he nodded in approval. Impressive… He respected a girl who could eat. Models he’d been with would have picked up a fry and said they were full after the first bite. “We’re going to hit the baths, I’ll point out the Field of Mars, and then we’ll get you tatted.” Working on his last slice of pizza, he walked back out of the mess hall, out the door and took a left to get back on the path to the baths.

Astrid raised a brow, impressed at the other demigods list, " Surfing sounds fun." she remarked, " I've always wanted to surf, but Lake Michigan isn't exactly...ideal for surfing. she explained, " I can snowboard though, that's always fun." she added, reminiscing about when her dad and some of his teammates took her with them to Colorado for training." Skateboarding always looked fun too, though my dad declared them 'death traps', and said I wasn't allowed to have one." she explained, " This is coming from a man who plays one of the most dangerous sports, and allows me to play one of the most dangerous sports, mind you." she added. The blonde laughed at his explanation, " Models, eh?" she replied, " Well, I'm not exactly a model, but I hope I can live up to your standards." she commented. Hawke didn't expect the other demigod to blush, but judging by his reaction it wasn't a proud moment, so she chose to laugh instead, it was actually a bit adorable to see him blushing. " I'll need a lot of ingredients for the spaghetti though, I didn't bring all of my cooking supplies to The Wolf House." she replied, though it would have been amusing if she had done so, Lupa's reaction would have been priceless. It was Astrid's turn to blush at Axel's response to her meeting his family, feeling her cheeks become hot, but she chose to play it off instead, " If you want you can meet my dad when the Blackhawks are playing the Sharks." she suggested, " If I let my dad know in advance we could get a box, or seats up against the glass, it can be a date." she added with a smile. The girl nodded at his final comment about his sister. He really cared a lot about his siblings, something she admired about the other demigod. The blonde rolled her eyes as Axel ate his heretic pizza. She could never get behind fruit on pizza, it just wasn't meant to be in her opinion. Astrid let out a loud burp after finishing the root beer and excused herself quietly, feeling a bit embarrassed that she had done so, and listened to Axel rather than acknowledge it any further than it needed to be, " The baths eh?" she replied, " Sounds...clean, actually." she commented with a laugh, following the taller demigod out of the mess hall. The teen was beginning to feel a bit anxious about the brand, seeing as it didn't exactly seem like it'd be the quickest process, though she figured that if she could survive training with Lupa, she could get the brand without any trouble. Although she tried to not show that she was anxious her right wrist began to itch, and the girl tried to scratch it as discreetly as possible without letting Axel realize she was anxious about it at all. Axel shouldn’t have been as surprised, or maybe even as exited as he was about Astrid knowing how to snowboard. “No way, I’ve always wanted to snowboard! I feel like its kinda similar to surfing and skateboarding.” Smiling, he enjoyed having something in common with Astrid. Or really just anyone. Some people seemed to overlook that Axel was just a normal guy, not some centurion with a stick up his ass. In his opinion, he was the most “fun” out of them all. Axel laughed and shook his head at Astrid’s remark about her father forbidding her to skateboard. “If he thinks that then I can’t imagine what he would think of this place.” Referring to Camp Jupiter, it was true, you were definitely more likely to die here than riding a skateboard.
Axel let out a sigh of relief when Astrid didn’t take offense to his comment. Maybe that was partially because she didn’t have much experience talking to guys. Either way, he wanted to make up for his mistake. “None of them were worth sticking with, so you probably already have.” Smiling, he genuinely meant that. Maybe he was more suited to be seeing someone more like her. Most of the models were just hookups anyway. “We can always go out and get things in New Rome beforehand,” Axel then caught the last part of her comment. “You brought cooking supplies to the Wolf House? Weirdo…” He smirked, shaking his head. That was something he hadn’t heard of until now.
Him meeting Astrids dad?! Axel had never met any of the parents of the girl’s he’d been with in the past, so what was he supposed to say to this teenager’s father who would never let his daughter be with a boy? ”Hi I’m Axel and I go to the same war camp as your daughter and I taught her how to fight with knives and let her skateboard. But don’t worry, my mother’s the Goddess of Love.” He got goosebumps just thinking about it. Axel didn’t want to disappoint Astrid, however, so he went a long with it. “Yeah that’d be sick, whatever he’s cool with.”
Axel didn’t miss Astrid’s eye roll as he finished his pizza. He laughed as the girl let out a belch, and matched her’s with a louder one of his own, hopefully making her feel less embarrassed. He stuck his tongue out at her as to say ’Ha, beat you.’ Leading the other demigod into the bathing area, he began to point things out. “There’s both a girl’s and guy’s changing area and separate baths as well.” He chuckled, “but if it’s really early in the morning or really late at night, the wall dividing the two is easy enough to climb over.” He added a wink, unable to help himself from trying to make her uncomfortable, or even test if her “sarcasm” before was actually that. Axel just barely picked up Astrid rubbing at her right arm, in just about the spot where she would soon get her brand. Reluctantly, he didn’t make a comment on it, deciding to help her calm her nerves when the time actually came.

Astrid grinned, matching Axel's excitement. She was always happy whenever she got to talk about stuff like this, " I'll make you a deal," she began, " if you teach me how to surf, I'll teach you how to snowboard." she proposed. The blonde didn't really know how many mountains with good snow there were in California, but she wasn't adverse to a road trip to go snowboarding (assuming the legion even allowed them to leave, one weekend couldn't hurt, could it?). She'd most likely have to get her snowboarding gear sent to her by her father, she'd feel weird using rental gear. The teen smiled, " Good to know I'm likable enough for you to stick around, I couldn't live with myself otherwise." she joked, glad that she hadn't made a bad impression on the other demigod, and happy that she hadn't been as annoying as she thought she had been. The blonde scrunched her nose at Axel's next comment " Collapsible cookware happens to come in handy," she retorted, " besides, its not as though I used any of it there, I couldn't come to camp with no possible way of cooking for myself." she reasoned. There was no way she'd deprive herself of homecooked meals. Hawke raised a brow at Axel's sudden silence, smiling when he finally replied, " I bet I can get him to have the team sign a jersey for you." she commented, debating with herself whether it would be better to get him her dad's jersey or have a custom jersey made for him. The teen decided it was a matter for a later time and would depend on whether or not the Blackhawks even had a game against the Sharks in the near future. " Or we could not go to a hockey game, your choice." she shrugged with a smirk. The teen laughed as Axel out burped her, sticking his tongue out at her. " You know I already knew you had a bigger dick than me, that wasn't necessary." she quipped with a laugh before listening to his explanation of how the baths worked, the girl raised an eyebrow " Already making plans for the future? she replied, the comment dripping in sarcasm. Hawke tried to recall how many stops they had left on the tour, still absentmindedly scratching her wrist. If she remembered correctly it was just the Field of Mars then off to get the brand. In order to qualm her anxiety a bit, Astrid began tapping on her right wrist in a pattern instead of scratching it, just to take her mind off of the anxiety. Axel Laughlen

Still smiling wide, Axel nodded enthusiastically. “Sounds like a good deal to me.” The boy missed the LA beaches. From living practically right on the beach to now living in a camp/city setting had been a big adjustment to Axel at first. The ocean was his home, and he’d always be down to return to it, even if it was just for a day. Axel also had to get creative in his methods to getting a tan. Usually it consisted of laying out a towel in some obscure place around the Little Tiber where no one could judge him for keeping up his tan.
Axel laughed at the blonde’s joke, thinking about how far they had come in just a few short hours. It’s like they’d known each other for much longer than that. They’d come up with multiple plans for the future, and he even smoothy asked her out on a date. And before the first one, Astrid had proposed a second date. Axel knew he was good, but not that good. It was a confidence booster nonetheless. Sure, the girl talked a lot, but so did he, so it seemed to work. He’d have no problem just talking to the girl all day. Axel shook his head and rolled his eyes as Astrid went on about her cookware. The boy was a terrible cook and didn’t know his way around the kitchen to save his life. Guess he’d gotten lucky with this one.
Axel made a mental note to look into hockey more when he got the chance. He knew the basics of the game, but clearly nothing compared to Astrid who had been around it for her entire life. “Nah, I’ve never been to one before, I think that’d be fun, actually,” he nodded. It had been forever since Axel had really gotten out of camp, being tied up with centurion duties. He just hoped he would be able to get out more now that he had a reason to.
Chuckling at Astrid’s retort, a grin appeared on Axel’s face. Yeah, but the girl definitely has balls, the boy said in his head. He didn’t want to say that aloud, wanting to keep the girl’s ego in check. At Astrid’s question about the baths, Axel narrowed his eyes at her and gave her a mischievous side smile. “Guess you’ll just have to wait and see.” Oh how his mother would be so proud of him right now. Emerging from his thoughts, Axel started to lead the other demigod out of the steamy bath area. They walked off the path around camp and up a small hill to reveal a field just about as far as the eye could see. When it wasn’t filled with fighting demigods and monsters, the Field of Mars was actually quite peaceful. “And this here is the Field of Mars. Everything happens here. All the way from parties to formation drills, to battles.”

Astrid would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't excited to learn how to surf, even if she tried the bright smile she displayed would betray her feelings, " I'm honestly really excited, I've never actually seen the Pacific Ocean, or any ocean, for that matter." she admitted with a shrug. Her dad rarely took her with him on away games so she hadn't ever seen all of the places they went for games. She did get to go to Canada last time he played in the Winter Olympics which while not quite the same was pretty cool considering. Hawke bit her lip in thought, " Do you know what kind of spices and herbs New Rome has?" she asked, hoping Axel would know off the top of his head-though he most likely didn't. " I'll need a few different kinds for the sauce, oh and parmesan cheese if they've got it." she explained, hoping they also stocked the three cheese pasta sauce she used, " Actually just let me know if this is like a grocery store situation or an outdoor market because that'll help me figure stuff out." she decided, hoping it'd have what she needed. There was no way she'd make a shoddy version of her spaghetti. The blonde's grin turned into a smirk, " I can't wait for you to actually go to a hockey game." she remarked, " The fights at the games aren't quite anything Roman, but they get pretty bloody, and one of the best parts of games." Maybe it was just because she was a daughter of Victoria, but seeing the fights were her favorite part of the game, as well as getting into them when she played (though not at the same caliber as the fights at professional hockey games). There was just something about them that gave her an adrenaline rush. The teen shook her head at Axel's implication, " I guess that means you'll have to catch me later at night, I never shower...err bathe, at a reasonable hour." she commented. Hawke always tended to shower at around two in the morning while she still lived with her dad. It was the only way she could sleep well, considering she couldn't sleep before then anyway. The blonde followed the taller demigod towards the field, " So do we get a schedule for when that stuff happens?" she asked, " I like to be able to plan ahead." she added, still tapping on her wrist to calm her anxiety.
