The beach bum of a demigod had spent most of her day laying in the sun, relishing her designated day off from everything: training, teaching, and working out. Royce treated herself to these days once every few weeks when the weather was especially beautiful, not too hot but not too cool. She was laying on her towel, a cooler beside her filled with water and Snapple, speaker playing relaxing tunes, and her German Shepherd, Rio, curled up napping under a tree near by. With the waves softly lapping at the shore, it couldn’t get much better than this. However on this beach day, Royce was antsy, thoughts racing through her mind.
Things had been worrying her lately, more mortals were showing up to the academy by the week, all claiming to have been blessed by the gods. It perplexed the girl, who had only known that there were such thing as gods and demigods before arriving at Camp Half Blood, never hearing of these “blessed” people who had limited powers of the gods. The girl was still getting into the swing of things, only being at camp now for about a year. The concept of being some superhuman with immortal blood running through her veins was still alien to her, and most days Royce woke up thinking she was still in her college dorm room about to get ready for class.
Royce being a full-fledged daughter of Poseidon acquired some pretty hefty powers, and if the girl was stuck with them, she was going to master them. Wanting to ease her mind, the demigod sprung up from her towel and walked towards where the sand met the sea. Breathing’s the salty air, Royce rose both her arms up, willing a large wave to emerge with them. Before long, the wave stood more than double her size. Testing her stamina, the girl wanted to see how long she could hold it.

Atalanta was steadily getting the hang of living at Camp Halfblood. It certainly did help that her father was the god of war and thus she was quick to pick up on the combating aspect of it all. Being athletic also did her a great favor when she first started the drills with Chiron and the rest of the demigods. It was a harsh regiment, but Atalanta was happy to be able to keep up from square one. The rest of it was like any other summer Camp... well at least if you counted out the supernatural, like taking history lessons from satyrs, said history being what you once considered mythology and having to fight monsters that can only be killed by a special kind of metal.
She made a mental note to make a sword one of these days. One she could take with her when she got back out on the world again. Or maybe a spearhead? That way she could use it as a knife or put it on a wooden shaft and have a spear for longer range. Shaking her head, she went over to one of the weapon racks and grabbed a shield and a spear, testing them for comfort before moving away. She really needed to get her own weapons at some point. She ought to enlist the help of one of the Hephaestus Kids, but for now it was training time.
And said training was going to be a relaxing one. The weather was nice and she had yet to take a dive in the waters of Camp Half-blood. She briefly wandered if she was going to witness any magical creatures or nature spirits while swimming in sea. SO she had taken her diving mask with her, action camera mounted and recording for the duration of her swimming session. It had also been a chance to do breathing excercises, diving deeper, longer, until her lungs begged her to resurface for air. She was in one such dive when she felt the water currents change around her and she watched as the bottom of the sea was rapidly moving away from her. Eventualy she found herself above sea level and yet she was still very much inside the water. She twirled around until she came face to face with Royce.
Of course! It all made sense now. Rolling her eyes, Atalanta swam forward until her head popped out of the water and she spurt water from her snorkel. "I should've known you'd be the one to mess with the water to this extend." She said with a weird, nosy accent due to her mask blocking her nose. She waved around, trying to both motion the entire wave and keep herself leveled on the wave."Care to put me down?" She asked rasing an eyebrow. WORDS ● TAGGED ● NOTES

The long hours of constantly working out paid off as Royce held up the wave with relative ease. The daughter of Poseidon took pride in her ability to lift heavy weights, practically living in the gym at the academy when she could. If one didn’t know of the girl’s hydrokinetic powers, Royce could probably be mistaken for one of Heracles’ kids with her toned body. That her muscles were completely developed by Royce herself, but with being a demigod, strength was heightened by default. Royce had held the wave for about a minute now, and she felt no fatigue yet.
Only a few minutes after Royce brought on the wave, she interrupted from her concentration by a distorted voice, but a familiar one at that. Apparently the demigod had picked something, no, rather someone when she lifted the sea water up in the air. Atalanta’s head stuck out of Royce’s wave, a snorkeling mask over her face. Giggling, Royce continued to hold up the wave. She had never caught someone in one her waves, and the girl found it quite entertaining. “Who else do you know can move water, huh?” Royce asked sarcastically, raising a brow.
Royce and Atalanta knew each other in the three short weeks the daughter of Ares had been awake at camp. Before meeting, Atalanta had been in a coma. Since waking, Royce took the other girl under her wing a bit and helped her get used to being in camp. Royce hosted a tour, and the two bonded over their stories about making their way to camp as well as their athletic lifestyles.
The daughter of Poseidon thought for a moment, dramatically tapping her foot and stroking her chin. “Hmm, I don’t know. Maybe.” She laughed. “You could always jump out and dive like a dolphin. That would be cool.” Royce suggested, knowing the daughter of Ares had a daredevil side to her. At this point, the two were comfortable enough to joke around with each other, and Royce was always one for dares.

Atalanta rolled her eyes and the mask moved slightly along with her face muscles at her friend's antics. "Want me to clap my hands like a sea lion too?" She asked with equal sarcasm and mirth as she actually considered what Royce had just proposed. It would make for a killer video if she did it right. Her eyes looked briefly below, judging the depth of the sea below her wave peak. While it would've been a fun thing to do, she had a near death experience barely four weeks ago, she wouldn't want to have another one so soon and her feet sticking out of the water while her head was stuck in the sand wasn't going to be funny either. At least for her. She was sure that Royce and whoever else could've been watching this would have a brief case of the giggles. So she stayed quiet for a couple of seconds and then looked up at Royce again.
"Would make a killer video shot. And I'm always up for some killing." She shrugged mischievously and took a deep breath as she backed into the water again, in order to gain some momentum to make the jump. She didn't bother to grab a hold onto her snorkel. The force of the dive would make her teeth hurt if she bit down to it anyways. After several extremely hard paddles, she shot out of the wave, hands folding in front of her so she could get into a torpedo shape before she could hit the water.

If anyone were to take Royce up on a dare it would be Atalanta. The girl took risk taker herself, but they were nothing on what she knew Atalanta would do. Buying into the other demigod’s sarcasm, Royce nodded enthusiastically. “Oh yes, that would really add to the effect.” Laughing, she watched as Atalanta looked like she was thinking about the girl’s suggestion, at least the jumping from the wave bit anyhow. Royce wondered herself if she would be able to make her own wave and swim up to the top similar to how Atalanta was now. All while keeping the wave at the same height. This dare was something Royce wouldn’t be opposed to doing.
Cocking a brow, Royce didn’t know what Atalanta meant by her comment. Did the girl enjoy making videos of her stunt? It would only make sense, as one would want to prove they actually did something cool they could show other people. Although Royce had no way to record this, as it looked like Atalanta was getting ready to do her jump. “What? Who would you be killing?” she said nervously, but Atalanta had already began paddling through the wave to gain momentum. Surely not herself or Royce. Before long, the daughter of Ares was diving through the air to the water below. Royce brought the water down to make it deeper for Atalanta’s entrance. Once she was done manipulating the water, Royce clapped for the girl for when she would emerge from the water.

“What? Who would you be killing?” She vaguely heard Royce asking as she paddled away. She didn't have time to roll her eyes at how clueless the daughter of Poseidon could be. Had she never heard of the expression? The dive had been epic. It felt weird, to shoot out of water to a sense of flying then back into water again. What felt even weirder was the fact she had made her dive while horizontal instead of vertical. She thanked her lucky star for not landing on her stomach with that kind of dive.
She took a deep breath as she resurfaced to the clapping of her friend. With her action camera still mounted on her mask, Atalanta took a look back from where she had jumped, recording for a couple of seconds. Then she took her mask off, lines from the spots it squeezed against her face made for a funny design. She grinned at Royce and paddled her way towards the shore. The water where she landed was naturally deep even without Royce manipulating it for her safety. "Now that was a killer jump. Let's hope the video managed to catch that." She commented, slightly out of breath as she trudged her way over to Royce, switching her camera off in the process. "I have to admit, for all the cons, being a demigod can help making some really sick videos without CGI."

Royce walked towards the water until the waves were lapping around her feet. She loved the feeling of the water on her skin, even though she stayed dry the entire time. The power was especially useful when walking through the sand after getting out of the water, as her feet stayed sand-free. While waiting for Atalanta to make her way to shore, the demigod idly played with a ball of water. “That was sick, I wonder if I could make that dive and hold that wave up at the same time.” she though out loud to Atalanta. Noticing the camera on the other girl’s head as she mentioned it and took it off, Royce cocked her head. “Oh, I didn’t see that from down here.” No wonder she had said the dive would make a killer shot. “Hey, being a demigod isn’t that bad.” she reminded. “Well, at least once you get here…” Royce shrugged, remembering both her and Atalanta’s experience in getting to camp. Royce’s hadn’t been nearly as long and grueling as the other demigod’s, but it still wasn’t smooth by any means. Atalanta on the other hand had just come to camp, and upon arrival, she was unconscious. Definitely not the entrance the daughter of Ares probably had in mind. “What do you do with all of those videos anyway?” she questioned, not knowing that Atalanta was into filming. Royce knew using some technology attracted monsters, but she didn’t think cameras did, since they didn’t use internet. Although the other girl would have to be careful where she posted her videos if there was any abnormal activity going on. Atalanta Nikolaou

Atalanta gave Royce an unconvinced look followed by the rolling of her eyes at the demigod comment. "I would trade it with being home and not having to be afraid of monsters any day." She pointed out, but didn't make any further comment on it. She would just have to get used to it being her reality now. She felt like a fantasy book hero with all the mythical elements and magic and monsters she had seen and heard had happened in the past. Instead she took her camera and put the video in playback, to see quickly how good the shot might be. She would have to reserve her final judgment on it after she had watched it in her laptop. She turned the camera such that Royce could easily watch it with her.
“What do you do with all of those videos anyway?” Royce questioned and Atalanta bit her lip for a moment. "I used to have a Youtube channel. My mother's..." She took a deep breath and corrected herself. "Was, a reporter. I used to film and take photographs of anything that interested me because I wanted to be like her. I guess it's just a habbit now. It's not like I can show this to anyone or put it in my YouTube channel." Her tone was one of defeat, but she quickly bounced back. She shouldn't spoil such a good day with sulking.
"How about you try it? What you said before about trying to hold the wave and dive off of it?" She suggested and raised her camera. "I can film you so you can observe your form later on." She added, alluding to the way athletes are used to filming themselves and re-watching their efforts to figure their strengths and mistakes out.
