Axel shrugged, “Either works, both will be equally fun.” He smiled, glad she was happy to learn something else from him too. “I don’t know anything about the supposed rink in New Rome, we’ll have to look into it.” Axel reasoned, unsure of where the rink was or if it was indoors or outdoors. They may very well have access to it all the time. “You may as well cut it, you’re the one making the meal.” He gave in to the girl, he felt like she would give him shit once they were eating if he actually used his daggers. “Because they’re basically just thick smoothies that you put more stuff on top.” he reasoned, his mouth almost watering at the though of the snack.
“I guess, besides this we’re pretty equal I guess.” He thought for a moment. “I’m a bit more outgoing than Brett, but he’s definitely more extra.” He laughed, hoping Astrid would know what he meant. Axel thought of all the times they were out taking pictures or making videos and what his twin would do for the perfect shot. Or even the boy’s reaction to one of Axel’s pranks. It’s what made the pranks that much better to Axel. “Well I at least owe it to her for your immediate attraction to me.” The boy winked and snickered, remembering the shock Astrid had gone through when the first met.
The older demigod thought for a moment at Astrid’s remark. “Hm, I don’t think it works that way, then again, I’ve never tried to speak it.” Axel laughed at the situation that popped into his head. “Well maybe you’d be fighting over me.” He pushed harder to for her to admit she was at least a little jealous like he knew she was. Axel raised a brow back at the girl, a wide grin on his face. “You know that little dirty place in your mind? Go there.” The boy was sure Astrid could at least think of something. Axel wasn’t really one for PDA other than PG stuff, otherwise he’d surely show Astrid right then and there what he meant. Plus, now with being Praetor, he had a reputation to keep up. He was sure citizens of New Rome were slowly beginning to find out who the new leader of the legion was. Narrowing his eyes, the demigod replied, “Yeah ok, I’ll believe it when I see it.” he said, shaking his head in disbelief.
Axel laughed at Astrid’s joke and reached for the girl’s hand and laced her fingers with his. Nonchalantly he replied, “Yeah, just the pasta, nothing else.” He looked at her and smiled, letting on that he was obviously kidding. “Good! And I’ve actually got mom to thank for that one. It's her gift for being promoted to Praetor.” He smirked. With his free hand, Axel brought his hand to his mouth and made a high pitched whistle, almost too high for humans to hear. Within seconds, a black figure flew towards the couple in the middle of the marketplace. The pegasus landed a few feet from the two and trotted over to Axel, playfully bumping his head into the boy’s chest, knocking him backwards a bit. Laughing, he stroked the black equine’s neck and smiled back at Astrid. “Astrid, meet Harley. He’ll be our ride today.” Tucking his wings in close to his body, Harley averted his attention to Astrid.

Astrid bit her lip, " I think we should go surfing first though, I'd love to see a beach that's actually on the ocean." she replied, knowing that the other demigod had been amazed that she'd never been to a real beach before and would probably enjoy going to the beach himself. " To be honest I have a feeling the rink in New Rome won't be nearly as nice as an Olympic sized rink." she admitted, also thinking it probably wouldn't be very well maintained, the blonde doubted that the Roman war camp would have a Zamboni on hand. The teen laughed, " Good to know, though we may not have to cut it if the bread is fresh enough." she replied. The teen scrunched her nose, " Sounds like one of those foods my dad's teammates wive's always ate to be honest." she commented, thinking back to all of the odd diets they had during dinners she had attended. Hawke laughed at the other demigod's comment that his other brother was more extra, " Sounds like one of my old teammates, everything she did had to be some spectacle." she commented, " There was one time when she decided to do this overly complicated figure skating trick during a game that ended in her having a concussion and she couldn't play for the next couple of games." she recounted, still laughing a bit at the memory. The blonde stuck her tongue out in response, " Well at least now it's genuine considering I've actually gotten to know you." she replied with a smile. The teen shrugged, " I don't think I'd know how to pronounce most of the language if I'm being honest." she admitted, it seemed like it'd be a difficult language if she tried. The blonde scrunched her nose in response to his next comment, " I'm not that petty." she retorted, " At least I don't think I am...I guess I haven't really had to do anything in that situation before." she admitted a bit sheepishly. Would she fight over him like he was an object if it got to that point? Astrid blushed at Axel's next comment, " I-I mean I wouldn't be opposed to that." she replied, her confidence melting away with his insinuation, causing her to stutter. Recomposing herself, the blonde rolled her eyes, " If I did I wouldn't be that obvious, it'd be subtle." she defended. Astrid accepted Axel's hand, her much more slender fingers fitting nicely in between his larger ones, " Definitely no other positive qualities to like about me." she replied, continuing with the joke. The blonde raised her eyebrow at the mention of a gift from his mother, " A gift eh?" she replied, curious as to what it was. The teen watched as the other demigod brought his fingers to his mouth and a few seconds later a winged horse-a pegasus arrived. The girl's jaw dropped, " Woah." was all she could say, eyes wide at the majestic animal before her. " This is nothing short of amazing, you realize that right?" she said, turning to Axel with a grin as the pegasus, Harley, turned his attention towards her. Astrid wasn't really quite sure what to do next, she was never really around animals all that often growing up. Instead she decided to ask a question, " Won't mortals...notice if we're around them on a flying horse? she questioned, pointing out the flaw in his plans. Axel Laughlen

Axel smiled. “I’d love to take you, then.” Going to the beach was the one thing he missed the most about being in camp besides not being able to see his brother and sister. At least one of those things would change permanently. However, with his new role in the legion, he wondered how he would get as much time to go outside of New Rome. “No, probably not, it’s not exactly a priority around here to go ice skating.” he pointed out. He felt bad for the girl, knowing how much she loved hockey by the way she always talked about it. Axel let the bread cutting go, seeing as Astrid was finally content with his response. He scrunched his nose right back at the other demigod. “There’s a different culture in LA, don’t hate on it until you try it.” Axel wasn’t mad, he was just giving Astrid his silly attitude. Although he did have to defend one of his favorite snacks, even if it was against Astrid.
Axel watched the girl tell her story, only half listening as he was just admiring her happiness at remembering her teammates. The boy hoped he could bring that feeling to their relationship, wherever it led. Shaking out of his thoughts, he shared a memory of his own. “That sounds like the time Brett wanted me to record a new flip he learned that he swore he could do off camera, but then once I was filming he couldn’t land it.” He laughed, “he threw a tantrum after, and he was, like, sixteen.” Axel smiled at the blonde’s confession. “I didn’t need any help for that one, I knew it would happen, anyway,” he teased.
“Yeah, me either.” Axel agreed. He chuckled as Astrid guessed that she wasn’t too petty. “I guess we’ll see in time.” He raised a brow with a smirk. Part of him actually wanted to see Astrid get a little protective over him. Not too much of course, but just enough that it was cute like it was now. There was the blush Axel liked to see on the girl. He innocence was what made it that much more fun to refer to the “things” she’d never done before. Smiling, proud that he’d gotten her to think more like him, he grinned. “Good, I was hoping you’d say that.” Axel decided not to go any further so she wouldn’t think he was pressuring her into anything. The other demigod just shook his head at Astrid’s suggestion that she would be subtle in her interrogation.
Axel liked that he and Astrid had similar senses of humor, she was able to roll with his jokes, and vice versa. Axel could really be himself around her. In a way, it reminded him of how he was with his brother. Smiling as Astrid’s jaw dropped at Harley’s entrance he agreed with the girl’s comment. “He’s really unbelievable,” admiring the equine. He thought for a moment, realizing that she’d probably never seen a pegasus before. Axel hadn’t really been around them much either until his mother paid a visit riding the black stallion. It was very unexpected to say the least. Seeing that Astrid didn’t quite know what to do in Harley’s presence, he brought her hand that he was holding up to the pegasus’s side for her to pet. “Not at all, they can’t see through the mist.” Astrid probably wouldn’t have asked the question if she knew about the mist. “The mist blinds mortals of anything that has to do with magic, the gods, or monsters. They would just see a black horse, so I’ll have him drop us off in a remote area anyway since there really aren’t many horses in LA.” He smiled, still enjoying teaching Astrid more about their world.

Astrid returned Axel's smile, " Awesome, we should pick a weekend where you're not too busy with Legion stuff to go." she affirmed, " Though we may have to go shopping beforehand, I didn't bring anything suitable for surfing." she added, knowing the son of Venus would be up for the activity judging by what he had told her before. The blonde scrunched her nose, " I guess Rome doesn't really prioritize winter sports." she joked. An ice rink most likely wasn't the Legion's top priority, so it was surprising they had one at all. The teen stuck her tongue out, " I was just commenting you dork." she replied, " When we go out you can order me one so I can try it, deal?" she suggested. Hawke couldn't help but laugh at the image of Axel's brother throwing a temper tantrum just because he couldn't get something done, " To be fair that is a devastating experience, to have something you worked so hard on not work." she commented, " A temper tantrum when you're sixteen?" she ruminated, " Not as valid." she decided with a laugh. The blonde scrunched her face, " You don't need me to tell you that though, you dork." she replied, shaking her head. The teen shrugged, " As long as this other Praetor doesn't challenge me to anything we should be fine." she reassured him, though part of her was sure he'd find some way to have the other Praetor, whoever it ends up being, challenge her to something just so he could see her competitive, and possibly jealous, side. Even before she knew she was a daughter of Victoria, Astrid couldn't help but take challenges when offered them, something that got her into trouble at some of the mortal schools she went to. The term 'I bet' became very dangerous, especially if it was some asshole that was egging her on. The blonde neglected to comment further on Axel's train of thought, that set of options could be explored later, rather than in the middle of New Rome. Astrid pet the pegasus the way Axel guided her to, " I can't believe your mom gave you a Pegasus, I've only seen one in that old Disney movie, Hercules." she commented. The creature seemed to behave like any other horse, just with the addition of wings she supposed. The blonde listened as the other demigod explained what the mist was, " So this mist thing makes it so mortals can't see stuff we can." she affirmed, " That makes more sense than what I thought to be honest." she continued, " I thought there was some kind of immortal Men In Black thing that happened where mortals memories were erased." the teen admitted, " Though I suppose that'd be a bit ineffective in the real world." she added, still in disbelief that she was petting an actual Pegasus. “Sounds like a plan to me, I just won’t know how busy I’ll be until the week of.” Axel’s smile lessened, still burdened with the thought of not being able to get outside camp as often as he was used to. “I’m always down for shopping. And getting to see you try on bikinis? Doesn’t get any better.” he finished with a laugh. That idea alone would motivate the boy to get all of his work done during the week. Axel shook his head, agreeing with the girl that they didn’t partake in many winter sports. The were in southern California, after all. “Add that to our beach day list, then.” he responded.
Grinning at Astrid’s reaction to the story, Axel thought of how many other situations the twins had been in where Brett had a much bigger reaction than necessary. He could go on for hours about them. Instead, he chuckled, “Yeah, that’s Brett for ya. Although I think he’s gotten over the tantrum stage.” At Astrid calling the other demigod a dork, Axel gave her a goofy smile, accepting the nickname, since he had ‘princess’ on her. Remembering that kids of Victoria were highly competitive, Axel finally realized what Astrid meant by how as long as someone didn’t challenger her, she’d be fine. Thinking to himself, the praetor knew he would be able to stir up drama if he wanted to with the other praetor and Astrid. But that idea was for another time.
At Astrid’s touch, Harley gave a small winey, liking the attention the girl gave him. The pegasus towered over the girl, and stepped closer to sniff her out, as most animals did when meeting someone new. Laughing at the blonde’s admiration, Axel replied, “It was really unexpected, demigods don’t usually hear from their parents too often. I guess I caught her attention.” he shrugged, not really minding not having a mother in his life. His older sister filled in that gap, and it wasn’t like he was used to having his father around much either, even when he did live at home. “Yes, that’s it.” he confirmed. “That can happen too, actually. I think the goddess Mnemosyne can control memories.” Axel was really digging deep in his mythology knowledge. "It's really just the mist though, which is controlled by the goddess Trivia. It replaces the "magical" stuff with things the human mind can comprehend." Axel explained, putting the word 'magical' in air quotes.
“We should get going!” His excitement returned, wanting the chance to show Astrid were he lived high up in the sky. Axel pushed Harley by the chest to back him up and motioned for the stallion to lower himself so he and Astrid could climb on. The pegasus was too tall for him to jump on to if he boosted Astrid up, otherwise he would probably hit the girl. Harley obeyed, and Axel got on the front of his back and motioned for Astrid to sit behind him so she could hold on.

Astrid gave Axel a reassuring smile, " We can work with your schedule, don't feel bad if it doesn't happen right away, I understand that you've got Legion stuff." she assured him. " If anything I could always keep you company while you do your work." she suggested. The blonde smirked, " Somehow I knew you'd be up for that." she replied, " You can even pick what I'm trying out, I'm positive you'll know what looks better on me than I will." she added. The teen nodded at the other demigod's last comment, " Seems like all of our dates will never be boring with all of the stuff we plan for them." she replied with a smile. Hawke smiled, " You'll definitely have to tell me more about your adventures with Brett when you have the chance, it sounds like you've done a lot of stuff together." she replied, " You know my navel piercing is actually because someone told me that they didn't think I had the guts to get one?" she commented, " Someone at some party I was at after a game was saying that I would never get a piercing outside of the industrial one in my ear because of how strict my dad can be." she explained, " So that weekend I went with some older friends of mine and got the navel piercing and proved them wrong the next time I saw them." she finished with a shrug. " It's kinda nice to know that I get that from my mom now, to be honest." she admitted. The teen tensed a bit when Harley stepped closer to her, but relaxed when she realized the animal was just sort of figuring out who she was, " Well I'd be disappointed if she didn't notice you to be honest, becoming Praetor is kind of a huge deal from what I can tell." she replied, " Did she just leave him near your quarters with a note or something?" she joked, not quite sure how one gifts a Pegasus while making sure the recipient is aware of its existence. Astrid tilted her head, " I guess the gods thought of everything with making sure mortals don't accidentally freak out or expose us." she replied. Astrid grinned at Axel's excitement, watching as he non-verbally instructed the Pegasus so they could climb on easier. The blonde carefully climbed on behind the other demigod, getting close to him and hugging him from behind as though they were on a motorcycle so she didn't accidentally fall off, " I don't suppose being on a Pegasus means we avoid birds and bugs?" she commented, hoping to the gods that they didn't get in the way of any bees while they flew. Astrid loved the outdoors, but they'd be a bit more preferable without the addition of bees, she wished there was any other way that flowers could be pollinated, especially due to her fear of them. The teen was always wary when in nature to avoid the black and yellow insect whenever she could. Axel Laughlen

Axel was surprised how well Astrid was already adapting to his new busy schedule. With a sigh of relief, the Praetor apologized to the other demigod. “Thanks, sorry in advance if this gets a little difficult with all the new things I’ll have to do around camp.” Axel smiled at her suggestion, happy he would have someone else in his lonely office while he was doing work. “I’d like that. I just have to work hard not to be too distracted by you.” he replied sheepishly. The demigod knew he would have long hours some days, and with Astrid’s looks and humor, he knew it might be hard to get work done. If Axel wanted company though, he would have to learn to control himself. Axel grinned, “Well I’ve never picked out girl’s clothing, but I feel like it an innate skill I’d have.” He smiled wider, “That’s gonna be the best time ever, holy shit.” Only in his dreams would he ever pick out what he liked to see a beautiful girl in, never mind Astrid. Axel raised a brow at the girl. “Boring? Never heard of it.” he joked.
“I could go on all day, honestly. The ridiculous things we’ve done…” he trailed off in thought. There were too many to count. “Oh really?” he questioned. Axel didn’t have to wait for the blonde to continue her story. He chuckled and shook his head, just picturing the girl getting heated about the dare. The boy made a metal note never to challenger her to do anything that he didn’t actually want her to do, especially for her safety. “I can totally see that happening.” he admitted. Axel decided to add his own story. “About a year ago Brett and I took a test to see if we were identical or fraternal twins, and we bet on what we thought we were. I lost, thinking we were fraternal, and we made the agreement whoever guessed wrong had to shave half an eyebrow and get their nose pierced.” he explained. “Long story short, we dare each other to do stupid shit all the time.” he paused. “I’ve since taken out the nose ring because I thought my nose was too fat for it.” he added with a laugh. Astrid did want to know more about the twins after all.
Axel shrugged. “I expected maybe a visit, definitely not an animal. Although Harley’s gonna make it easier to get around camp and New Rome.” The Praetor assumed he would be back and fourth and around camp often every day, and he wouldn’t have the time to walk everywhere. “She said she was too busy to come to me in person, so she came into my dreams and told me to check the stables in the morning. I did, and found this hunk waiting for me.” He pointed a thumb in Harley's direction. He smirked. “My mom actually mentioned you, she said you were pretty, and I’d have to agree.” he commented. To Astrid’s remark on the mist, Axel nodded in agreement.
As Astrid climbed on Harley’s back behind him, Axel felt comfort as the girl wrapped her arms around him and got close. The Praetor had never traveled on pegasus-back as far as they were about to go, and he was grateful he wouldn’t be alone. As the black stallion rose to his full height, Axel held on to his mane. Patting his neck to motion the pegasus to go, the winged-horse spread it’s wings and began to gallop down the street, gaining speed before lifting off into the air. Once they were at a smooth flying altitude, Axel answered the girl’s question, making sure to speak loud enough over the wind. “That’s up to Harley, but he’s a pretty smooth flier.” he assured the girl. The three quickly soared out of the walls of New Rome and over the woods surrounding the territory. Before long, beaches and palm trees were in sight. Had Axel not known the area like the back of his hand, the pegasus would be completely lost. The demigod had to steer him in the right direction. Pointing towards a small beach, Axel commented, “That’s where I used to live.” The place had no significance to him anymore, but it seemed appropriate to share with Astrid.

Astrid nodded in response, " I still have my own duties as a Legionnaire so I'm sure it'll even out." she replied, " Maybe I can even help out a bit, considering there's no second Praetor yet." she added, theorizing that he'd most likely still have to do the work of both Praetors despite Axel being only one person. The blonde laughed, " If anything I can be a motivator, like those study techniques where you do a certain amount of work then get a reward." she suggested with a smirk. The blonde grinned, " I'm sure it won't be too hard for you, we already seem to have a similar sense of fashion." she assured him. The teen blushed when he mentioned how it'd be the best time ever to pick out clothes for her, then laughed when the other demigod joked that he didn't know boring, " Boring? I don't know her." she quipped with a laugh, quoting the meme from a Mariah Carey quote about Jennifer Lopez from a long time ago. Hawke raised an eyebrow, listening to the story about the bet they had made, the blonde decided not to comment on how Axel didn't realize they weren't fraternal, and instead on the end of the story, " I'm sure it didn't look that bad." she reassured him with a smile, " Well the nose ring at least, though I'm sure the half shaven eyebrow didn't look all that bad either, considering it's you." she added with a smirk. " You could probably put the piercing back and look fine to be honest." she told him sincerely, her smile returning. The blonde shook her head, " It's not that difficult to get around camp." she teased with a smirk, though she supposed sometimes he could be too busy to get places on time, especially with his new duties. The teen tilted her head to the side, " Is that a common way for gods to visit their kids? Through dreams?" she inquired, it was most likely the easiest way she figured considering it didn't seem to be very common for gods to just come for a visit. Astrid blushed when Axel mentioned that his mom had said she was pretty, it wasn't every day that the goddess of love and beauty complimented you. " Good to know she approves of me." she joked. Astrid nodded, her head resting on Axel's shoulder to ensure she didn't fall off. " Well if you trust him to avoid them then I will too." she replied, hoping the pegasus would do as the other demigod said. The blonde lifted her head up as they departed camp, looking at all of the scenery as they flew. The teen looked where Axel had been talking about, happy that he had shared that information with her, " No wonder you love the beach so much." she commented, not having realized that he had quite literally grown up that close to the ocean. The other demigod's shock at the fact that she hadn't been to a real beach made more sense now. Idly Hawke wondered how close the tattoo parlor was to where he had grown up, seeing as though they seemed to be on his turf now, for lack of a better term. Axel Laughlen

“That’s true, too.” Axel reasoned. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. He hoped Astrid would have time to help hime with whatever work needed to be done, seeing as the job was meant for two people. Axel gave Astrid a devious grin and asked, “Oh? And what would my reward be, huh?” He really wanted to know what the blonde had in mind, as she suggested the “reward”. “I don’t think it will. Just gotta see what colors you look best in.” he commented. Clothing coordination and manipulation was one of his more “odd” powers his mother blessed with. Axel didn’t mind though, it had only made him look more attractive, anyway. The boy laughed at Astrid’s continuation of his joke.
With his teeth clenched, he drew in a sharp breath. “Yeah no, it was definitely not one of my better looks.” Thankfully Axel had been able to grow the brow back quick due to his minor feature manipulation on himself, so he didn’t have to stay embarrassed for long. He smiled at Astrid’s compliment though. “Aw, thanks, princess.” He chuckled. He quickly stepped back with a laugh in hopes of avoiding another punch from the girl.
Axel shrugged. “You’re right, but if I need to go from my quarters to the senate house, it’d be sick to roll up on Harley.” he replied. The Praetor really just wanted to get Harley out of his stables as much as he could. Although, he was sure the pegasus was smart enough to escape on his own, seeing as he was in the stables when Axel called him to he and Astrid. The enclosure was really just a formality at this point. “I think so.” Axel answered. He hadn’t really heard or seen any gods come to camp to visit their children that he knew of. “Of course she does, have you looked in the mirror recently?” the boy joked with a smile. “Although I’ve come to like you’re company too.” he added, not wanting Astrid to think he only liked her for her appearance.
Axel smiled as Astrid rested her head on his shoulder and hearing that Harley had her trust as well. The pegasus may not have been around for long, but the two became fast friends, both having silly personalities, but able to be serious in the right situations. After pointing out his old home to Astrid, he began to lower Harley closer to the ground, as they were close to the tattoo parlor. Axel scanned the area for an empty beach, hoping that the pegasus could make a smooth landing on the soft sand. There weren’t many other private areas unless they landed in the middle of a park, but it would take them too long to walk to their destination. Eventually, the boy guided the stallion down to a beach a few blocks from the tattoo parlor. They landed on the beach, Harley slowly trotting to a stop. Axel slipped off his back and held a hand up to Astrid to help her down. “Well, we’re at the beach, but we’ll have to come back another day since I made us an appointment” he looked around, it wasn’t the best of beaches in LA. “And we’ll go somewhere nicer with better waves.” he added.

Astrid smiled, " Besides, I'll probably see you at The Academy, considering I have to take classes there, and last I heard you were teaching." she pointed out. The blonde shrugged when he asked what she had meant by reward, " Well I was thinking something along the lines of kissing or something like that, but I'm sure you have much better ideas for rewards than I do." she replied with a smirk. The teen raised a brow, " I'm sure you won't mind staring at me in bikinis all day either." she pointed out, knowing the other demigod would enjoy that element of the activity as well as the fact that he was going shopping. Hawke scrunched her nose, " If you say so, but I still say it probably didn't look as bad as you think it did." she replied. " Either way I'm sure the piercing has closed by now, so you should be fine." she teased with a smile as they continued to walk. The blonde scrunched her face when the other demigod called her princess again and immediately stepped back, " Have I already become so predictable that you expect a punch from that?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, " I'm hurt." she finished, putting her hand to her chest in mock offense. The blonde laughed, " I'll admit that riding in on a Pegasus would make your entrance more impressive." she agreed. A dramatic entrance like that suited the taller demigod, and he might as well take advantage of the fact that he had his very own personal Pegasus. The teen's blush deepened at Axel's compliment, " Yes but self knowledge of that is very different from the Goddess of love and beauty saying it." she pointed out. The demigod laughed, " Good to know I'm not just a pretty face." she joked. Astrid tightened her hold on Axel as they flew, still a bit wary of being in the air without any sort of actual safety devices, moving with the other demigod as they landed. The blonde released her hold on Axel so he could dismount the creature, and took his hand so she could get down easier, practically jumping into the sand with her face relatively close to his chest due to the height difference. " How far is it to the parlor?" she inquired, hoping they'd make it on time seeing as the other demigod mentioned that he made an appointment for the tattoos. Axel Laughlen

Axel had forgotten about Astrid having to go to the academy, since she had just arrived, The other demigod probably wouldn’t have to go for too long, seeing g as she was already through her junior year of high school. He assumed she would be taking more classes geared towards her powers. “We’ll probably have to keep this on the DL over there, I don’t know if there are any rules about that.” he wondered with a nervous laugh. “You already got a private lesson from me in the course I teach, anyway.” he pointed out. Axel grinned at the blonde’s suggestion. He honestly didn’t thin she would say something like that. “Sounds good to me.” The boy shook his head enthusiastically, making sure he got his point across. “Nope nope nope, not at all.”
Axel just shrugged at Astrid’s thoughts. The consequences hadn’t lasted long, and only his brother had seen his embarrassing state. “Yep.” Axel confirmed curtly before laughing, buying into her mock offense. The boy was actually surprised he hadn’t received a blow to the arm yet. “I think you're a keeper, huh bud?” The demigod smiled and patted the pegasus. Axel tended to enjoy making a statement wherever he went. His smile widened as Astrid continued to blush. “I guess that’s true.” The demigod’s mother did know what she was talking about. “Of course you’re not.” he said sincerely.
Astrid dismounted and he secured her on the ground by placing his hand on her waist. Again, the two were close, and Axel looked down to the girl with a warm smile. “Hey.” He brought the girl to his side, away from Harley to guide the pegasus in the right direction home. The stallion was gone as fast as he had arrived, not wanting to be in the weird and unfamiliar area for long. Within seconds, he was all but a black speck in the sky. After Axel was done looking at the figure disappearing in the distance, he turned his attention to Astrid’s question. “A couple minute walk.” he answered, leading the girl off the beach and to the sidewalk.
The pair blended in just like anyone else on the streets. Although their outfits didn’t exactly look like they had just come from the beach, it fit in with the crowd. “I’m excited to see what you picked out for me. Where do you think I should get it?” he inquired, excited for his new art. So far, both of his thighs had tattoos all over them, only visible in shorter shorts and ripped jeans. Both his feet also had a few on each. And of course, his right forearm bared his legion tattoo, as did Astrid’s. The picture of Astrid’s design he picked out was burning a hole in his back pocket, and all he wanted to do was show her. But that would have to wait until they got to the parlor, and they were almost there.

Astrid scrunched her nose, " Well we could always get together for lunch or spend any mutual free time together." she suggested, " It's not like it's a mortal school where you're twenty years older than me or something." she pointed out. " Or at least we could when you're not getting paid. she added, " You do get paid right?" she questioned, hoping the demigods were getting compensated for the time they spent teaching others at the academy. The blonde smirked, " Well maybe those private lessons could continue, but instead something along the lines of a morning workout?" she suggested, " It was nice to get some other movement in after my jog this morning." she admitted, they were already up extremely early anyway to be ready for Legion duties, so why not make the most of the time they had to be prepared for the day? " As long as we don't let the motivation become the distraction we should be fine there." she commented, " We could probably come up with a system where the more work you get done the longer the reward will last." she suggested with a smirk. Hawke quirked a brow, " Would you have preferred that I punch you?" she questioned, " I didn't realize you were into that kind of stuff, Laughlen." she quipped with a smirk, hoping the other demigod would catch onto what she was saying. She wouldn't normally use a line like that, but it was so easy to let her sarcastic side shine with the other demigod that it flowed naturally. The blonde laughed, " I don't think you have a choice whether or not to keep him anymore," she pointed out, " Harley has clearly grown attached to you, and for good reason." she commented. The teen smiled, " Good to know that my amazing personality has shone through all of this beauty you're seeing." she joked. The blonde landed a bit awkwardly in the sand, causing her to sink slightly, her head at around the same level as Axel's chest. She looked, up, blue eyes meeting brown and smirked, " Hey." she echoed, moving with the other demigod in order to allow the Pegasus to have enough space to leave the beach. The teen watched as the creature flew off, back towards camp presumably, and she hoped that the steed would be able to recall where he had left his master. " I'm glad I wore my Docs." Astrid replied, " I'm almost positive I would have broken an ankle with the way I dismounted Harley had I been in heels." she elaborated as they walked off of the beach. At Axel's inquiry, Astrid bit her lip, " Well the design that I found would most likely work best on your arm, though I'm not sure whether it'd fit better on your forearm or further up." she explained, thinking of the sheet of paper folded inside the wallet she kept in her jacket pocket. The blonde was excited for him to see the design she had found, but at the same time was worried that he'd dislike it, not seeing the symbolism that she had picked that linked it to the Legion. While Axel listened to Astrid suggest when they would be able to see each other at the academy, Axel realized how ridiculous it would be for him to have to be careful about their relationship. The most others would see them do would be walk together, which they couldn’t get in trouble for. “Definitely, although I try to be in an out of the academy as soon as I can since there are things to do back at camp.” he explained. “You’re only a year younger than me, anyway. What could they possibly say?” Axel wasn’t really sure who “they” would be, seeing as he was at the top on the Roman side of things at the academy. “Yes, I get paid, thank the gods, or I wouldn’t be able to afford this date.” he smiled. Axel raised a brow. “What did you have in mind? Like a run, lift, or sparring?” he asked. The demigod enjoyed working out early in the morning as well, he was an early bird himself. “I like the way you think.” the boy commented with a grin.
Axel was completely thrown off by Astrid’s question. He had no idea the girl had that kind of humor in her, from what he knew of her lack of “experiences”. His jaw dropped, but it turned into a slow impressed smile. “Wow, uh…” for once, the son of Venus was at a loss for words, not out of awkwardness, but of awe. He rubbed the back of his head, “I don’t think I’d be a fan, no.” he laughed, shaking his head. “That was good, I’ll give you that one.” he said, commending the girl and still shaking his head. “Yeah, there’s no way I could get rid of this goon now.” he confirmed. Axel noticed that Astrid joked about her personality, and he wasn’t sure if she though he meant the compliment or not. “I’m serious, you know.” he looked down at the girl with a sincere look on his face.
The boy tightened his grip slightly on the blonde’s waist in response to her reply. “I gotchu, babe.” he assured just as they reached the sidewalk. On their walk to the tattoo parlor, they discussed the placement of Axel’s future tattoo. He thought about her suggestion for a moment before answering. “Well I’ve already got the legion tattoo on my forearm, so maybe on the outside of my opposite bicep?” the older demigod inquired. Astrid didn’t even have to ask for Axel to tell her where he was thinking she should get the tattoo he picked for her. “I was thinking yours would look good on your left forearm, actually.” he suggested, hoping the girl would like his idea, knowing she also had the legion tattoo on her right one already.
In no time, Axel was holding the door open to the tattoo parlor for Astrid, walking in behind her. The boy exchanged a greeting with his regular artist, dabbing him up and hugging like most guy friends would. He introduced Astrid as well. Once the introductions were through, Axel turned back to the girl. “Lady’s first?” the boy asked with an eyebrow raised. Ultimately it was up to Astrid, but Axel thought he would offer anyway.

Astrid nodded in response, " Well I'd hope you'd at least stay here for lunch, no real point in going back to camp for that." she pointed out. " Most student teacher relationships are frowned upon in the mortal world, but it's not like we're ten years apart like the ones I've heard about. she agreed. The blonde raised a brow, " Last I checked I was covering the expensive part of this." she commented with a smile, hopefully indicating to the other demigod that she was being facetious. The card they'd be using was her father's money, and it wasn't as though he'd miss any money with the nature of his job. The teen scrunched her nose, " Well I always jog beforehand so running wouldn't work, I'd outpace you anyway, but sparring is always a good workout." she replied. The girl grinned, " We can wing it the first time then, and just see where it goes." she commented. Hawke gave the other demigod a wicked grin, glad that she had finally gotten the chance to trip him up for once, laughing at his speechlessness, " This more than makes up for when you've done the same to me." she replied, recalling all of the times he had managed to render her speechless with his comments. The blonde smiled, " I'm glad that you get along with him, I've read that Pegasi can be pretty finicky." she commented. The teen smiled, " I figured, but it's nice to hear you say it." she replied. The blonde smiled warmly, " Good to know I can count on you to keep me out of the sand." she replied, a sense of safety washing over her as he tightened his grip on her waist. At the other demigod's suggestion, the blonde bit her lip, thinking of how the design she had picked out would fit there, " I think that could work," she agreed, " the design shouldn't get too distorted from your muscles." she added. The teen nodded, " That sounds like good placement, I trust your judgement on this considering you've clearly got more tattoos than I do." she affirmed. Astrid nodded in thanks when Axel held the door open, walking in to the shop. The teen raised a brow as the other demigod did some form of handshake with the artist, not really quite sure what she had just watched. She resolved not to question it, and instead waved when he introduced her. The blonde shrugged at Axel's suggestion, " Works for me." she agreed with a smile. " What design did you pick out?" she inquired, hoping it was something she'd like. Axel Laughlen

Axel shrugged. “Guess not if you want me to stay.” he commented. The boy still wasn’t quite sure what they would do about being together in camp, but he didn’t see other people having a problem unless he started to favor Astrid too heavily when it came to legion matters. They’d just have to tread lightly to start off with. “Alright, true.” the boy agreed. He was grateful Astrid didn’t mind paying for the tattoos, she was the one to suggest it, anyway. Axel thought about what kinds of workouts they would be able to do. He remembered reading somewhere that kids of Victoria were the fastest runners of the demigods, so that definitely wouldn’t be an option. “That’s fine, I can run on my own. We can rotate between lifting and sparring. I know the academy has a good weight room.” he suggested. “Today was a pretty good test run.” he pointed out. Watching Astrid’s reaction to his own, he knew she was pleased with herself. “Hey, I was never awkward like you were, in my defense.” he reminded. Axel was just impressed the girl had come out with something like that. The demigod sighed with a smile. “He’s got his moments, but overall he’s pretty well-behaved.” Harley could be a handful at times, but the stallion was young and new to camp, so the boy couldn’t really blame him. Axel smiled, knowing how much it meant to give someone a genuine compliment. The boy generally didn’t show his deeper feelings to others than his brother, but Astrid was the new exception. Axel smiled, liking the feeling of gaining someone else’s trust, especially Astrid’s. It was a feeling he hoped to get used to, as he hoping transitioning into his new position at camp could be a challenge. New leadership was always difficult in the beginning, as he had to prove himself competent. Axel nodded in reply, liking the idea of getting his first tattoo on his arm. He hoped the design wouldn’t be too bold, as he liked more subtle designs. Axel was glad Astrid liked his idea and smiled. “I don’t think you’ve seen any of them yet, right?” he questioned. The boy didn’t think he had ever been barefoot or worn short shorts or ripped jeans around the other girl. Grinning with excitement, Axel pulled the piece of paper out of his back pocket, unfolded it, and handed it to Astrid. He looked at her for her reaction, really hoping she’d like it. The image was of a geometric hawk design. Axel had actually put a lot of thought into it from what he knew about the girl, which was that she seemed to value her last name quite a bit. He thought the geometry would look good with it as well. The tattoo artist peaked over her shoulder and nodded, and began sketching it out. “So, what do you think?” He raised a brow, anxious to know what she thought of his choice. Tattoo
