Astrid smiled, " Good to know I've become the deciding factor on this stuff." she replied. It wasn't as though it'd be odd, they were close in age and the teachers at The Academy were from camp anyway. It wasn't as though the camp could prevent campers from dating either, it'd be harsh to deny them relationships considering they were training for war, though she wasn't sure what war they'd be fighting. The blonde grinned, " My dad probably won't even notice the charges, he doesn't really keep tabs on what I spend on, or else I wouldn't have the navel piercing." she commented. " That sounds like a good plan, I don't really lift all that much to be honest." she admitted, finding it not stimulating enough " But lifting with you wouldn't be too bad." she added with a smirk. Hawke scrunched her nose, " In my defense I'd was dealing with feelings that I had never felt before, so I'd like to think that I'm allowed to be awkward with that." she retorted. It wasn't as though she didn't make sexual jokes just because she rarely experienced attraction, the teen had a full arsenal of sarcastic remarks for any situation...most of the time. " I don't really have a lot of experience with mythical creatures, or not so mythical I suppose, but I'd say that you're on the right track with Harley." she replied. The blonde was glad that she could count on the other demigod to be there for her, in situations like this and otherwise. Trust was something the teen held close, as trusting the wrong people in the past led to negative consequences, but with Axel there wasn't any danger in trusting him. The girl felt the opposite, instead feeling safe when around the taller demigod. Astrid shook her head, " I don't think I've seen any of your tattoos, though I do remember you mentioning them." she replied, wondering just what he had for other tattoos. Astrid mirrored Axel's grin as she saw the design he had picked out, " It's a Hawk, I love it so much!" she exclaimed, it was great symbolism towards her last name, and she was glad he had picked it out with her in mind. The blonde bit her lip, " I actually picked something similar to you," she admitted, pulling out her wallet and taking out the folded sheet of paper with the design she picked out on it, " I figured the Eagle would be good symbolism towards the Legion." she explained handing him the similar design. “I’m sure there will be better people to sit with, now that I think about it.” Axel joked. In reality though, more people he knew would probably be at the academy anyway. “Wow, must be nice…” he commented, not meaning for it to come out as negative as it seemed. Axel didn’t come from a family of money like Astrid had, as him and his siblings had to work for everything they owned. At the moment, he didn’t think that was something Astrid needed to know about him, as it was a bit of a sore subject. It wasn’t until Axel and Brett got into their later teens did they start taking modeling gigs, where they were paid quite handsomely. Finding a smile again, the boy replied, “Of course it won’t. Shirts are optional.”
Axel laughed. “I guess so, but now I think you can say otherwise?” he questioned, already knowing the answer, but wanting to hear it come from the blonde instead. Axel shrugged. “Neither do I.” he admitted with a laugh. Axel was a beach-goer growing up, not a farm kid. He hadn’t even seen a horse-like creature until he took a tour of camp and saw the pegasus stables. Even at that he didn’t have much experience with the equine besides occasionally riding one into battle. Grinning, Axel replied, “I’ll have to show you sometime. But, you know, not it public.” he winked.
The boy instantly beamed at Astrid’s reaction, relief washing away his worries. Her excitement seemed genuine, and that’s all he needed to see. “Thank goodness, I was so nervous you’d think it was corny.” he admitted sheepishly. Axel became a bit nervous as the other demigod did so as well, admitting she picked out something similar to his. What are the freaking odds… Axel thought to himself. Taking the piece of paper delicately in his hands, he observed the design. The eagle was perfect for his new position, and he liked the photorealism of the bird along with the geometry. He smiled. “This is actually so dope…” he trailed off, opening his mouth in awe. Axel looked up at the blonde. “Thank you.” he said sincerely.
The tattoo artist guided Astrid to a seat, where he began setting up his tools. Axel followed, dragging another chair over to sit next to the girl. The scene was familiar to when Astrid received her legion brand, the older demigod sitting next to her for support. “You know you can always hold my hand again, princess.” he teased, holding out a hand to her. “I promise it won’t hurt nearly as much as the last one.” Axel had to be vague, as the mortals were unable to see their legion brand on their forearm due to mist. To them, it just looked like bare skin, and Axel hoped the girl would assume that due to their previous conversation about how the mist worked.

Astrid scrunched her nose, " Of course, I mean I'm sure you know plenty of Greeks that would be better company anyway." she retorted, " I'm sure they all fawn over you in classes anyway." she added. The blonde bit her lip, feeling bad that she had just flaunted her father's wealth like that, Axel sounded upset, and she didn't want to push it. Normally she didn't really talk about it but it had seemed appropriate for the situation. The girl smirked, " It seems like shirts are always optional when it comes to you, Laughlen, not that I'm complaining." she quipped in response. Hawke stuck her tongue out in response, " I'd like to hope so, but I feel like that's dependent on whether or not you disclose your fantasies in the middle of New Rome. she pointed out. " The closest I've ever gotten to horses was seeing them when driving through rural Wisconsin." she admitted. There were plenty of deer in the state, but it wasn't as though she socialized with deer in the forest, that'd just be...odd, and most likely frowned upon by the state's park rangers. The teen raised a brow, " I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to show me." she commented. The blonde shook her head, " I really do love it, it's a nice nod to my name." she reassured him with a smile. It was a nice first real tattoo, seeing as her Legion tattoo probably didn't count much towards a tattoo count. The teen watched with anticipation as Axel looked over the design she had picked out for him, grinning when he expressed his appreciation, " I'm glad you like it, I figured that it'd be meaningful as a Centurion, but even more meaningful as a Praetor." she explained, hoping the mist would conceal the terms she was using to the mortal tattoo artist, assuming that mattered. Astrid followed the tattoo artist and sat down in the chair, scrunching her nose at the other demigod's remark, " I guess, but only because you offered." she retorted, taking Axel's larger hand in hers, her hand fitting almost perfectly. " That's a relief." she replied, " I could do without that experience again." she added, using vague terminology as Axel had to prevent the mortal from knowing anything he shouldn't. The tattoo artist started on her design, and as Axel had said it didn't hurt nearly as much as her brand from the Legion had. In just half an hour the tattoo was finished and wrapped up, and the artist started preparing Axel for his tattoo. Axel Laughlen

Axel scoffed. He didn’t even think the girl knew that he had a slight distaste for the Greeks. It wasn’t as much the Greeks, but the leadership they brought with them: Chiron and Mr. D. Axel was a bit more on edge around them, and he felt like he couldn’t mess up his job or the Romans would be out of the Academy. Although he decided not to let Astrid in on that small detail. “Oh yeah, they love to see a good-looking guy with a purple cape and eagle medal walking the halls.” he replied, giving Astrid a smirk and side glance. The praetor wasn’t lying, but he also responded in a sarcastic tone. “Facts, I knew you wouldn’t be though.” he laughed.
The boy rolled his eyes. “I didn’t even get specific, why would I want other people to know that stuff?” he questioned, still smiling. Axel didn’t think he had revealed too much, they were in public after all. He supposed people of New Rome wouldn’t recognize him as the new praetor yet, so he was probably safe. Axel just laughed at Astrid’s comment that he would have chances to show her his other tattoos, not wanting to give anything else away while they were still in public. “Well, now you have, and he seems to really like you.” he smiled.
Upon reassurance, Axel smiled again. “Good, that’s what I was thinking too.” he added. “Yeah definitely, it represents both. Plus it looks pretty badass.” he laughed. Idly, Axel wondered what the tattoo artist heard when they spoke in legion terms, knowing the mist distorted specific terms mortals didn’t know were real things. As Astrid sat down in the chair, Axel pulled another over to sit next to her. The blonde took his hand almost instantly, clearly not offended by his offer. “Mmm, ok, just because I offered.” he smirked. Axel secretly thought she just liked holding his hand. “You’ll do great if you could do that.” he commented, nodding. Watching the artist inscribe the design on Astrid’s forearm, in no time it was his turn.
Switching places with Astrid, the artist cleaned his tools and prepped his arm for the ink. “This is so weird, this is my first tattoo on my upper body.” The legion brand wasn’t exactly a tattoo, and mortals couldn’t see it anyway. Axel kept most of his tattoos hidden, but this would be the first to really stand out in clothing, like tank tops or swim trunks. Within a half hour, Axel’s tattoo was finished and wrapped up as well. Beaming, he showed his arm to Astrid. “This looks awesome.” He stood up and shook hands with the artist. After waiting for Astrid to pay for the ink, they were out the door again and walking back to the beach they arrived on. “What did you think, a lot better than last time?” he cocked his head.
